LIARS SHOULD BE HEAVILY PENALIZED

Yesterday I saw a twitter quote that advocated liars be given special penalties and if you were a politician the penalty  should be more.  This caught my eye and I said , "Yes."

At this time our politicians have no qualms about saying anything even if it's untrue. The can embellish the lie. They can twist the lie. They can repeat the lie.
Why should politicians be able to lie to us with impunity?

I was a teacher. Would I be allowed to tell lies. How about your doctor or dentist telling lies. What about a nurse telling lies. For these people it's a matter of your life and death. Used car salesmen who tell lies can get into serious trouble.

Why do we let politicians of all stripes lie to us?

Recently my Face Book page has been filled with revolting untruths and threats of harm to other politicians. In this age of easy graphics there are all kinds of disgusting pictures.

It seems that we have nothing we can use  to put a stop to the liars.

One thing that would help is if we did not vote for liars. First of all, we would need a very reliable party that didn't deal in lies.

The Internet and Face book have made it easy to lie and be invisible. There are too many false identities which politicians can use to spread their lies.

I think that we are at a time where serious penalties have to be applied to lying politicians.

What kinds of penalties do you think would work and what should those penalties be?

  1. The remedy for lies is truth. We must all search out the truth, seek the reports of credible journalists, do our own investigating from reliable sources, apply critical thinking skills, and then share what we know to be truth and call a lie a lie. Then when it comes time to vote we must brand the liars, back that up with evidence, and hope and pray we can vote them out.
Our US president is the liar in chief. Yet he still claims truth is fake news. More and more, our journalists are pointing out his lies. It will add up.

    1. Your solution is bang on.It takes skillful work to turn some of these lies around as they are very skillful in supporting their lie.

  3. I have stopped following those who promote lies. I think the nature of the press conference means the press is unable to call out a lie. They are being called out on Twitter, though. Some people choose ignorance. Also, people like spewing lies to piss off their opponents.

  4. Hello, politicians that lie should be penalized. I agree 100%! They are keeping a track of our current president's lies for two year it is over 7,000 lies. He himself said he has a hard time telling the truth. The man should have never been president. So sorry for the rant. Have a happy day and weekend.

    1. Rants are good. I think I got my mouth washed out with soap a few times for telling lies.

  5. I agree with LInda. We must call out the lies and the liars and not vote for them. I certainly didn't vote for our president and never believed that such a man could be elected. I think you are right: we need to find some serious penalties for liars. Like paying them no attention at all and turning our backs on them.

  6. Linda said it right. People need to do some work themselves to find the truth. Don't vote for the liars. People have the power to change things but they need to stand up and do some work about finding the answer.

    1. Liars have to see that they lose when telling lies.

  7. I think I can accept the occasional need for evasiveness by a politician, but the sort we see too much of at present, who lie for the sake of lying and then shrug when called out on it (Cadet Bone Spurs comes to mind) are the sort who need to be held to account.

    1. People can show the positive side of their argument but they don't have to put in lies for support.

  8. Howdy Keith! As always, you said it well. As for "penalties" for liars, I would think the consequences should reflect on how serious the lie is, and what specific crime it would constitute by saying the lie. Now, wouldnt that change things a bit on the internet? :)

    1. Always good to hear from you David. People don't seem to have conscience when it comes to telling lies.

  9. I agree with you completely. If a politician is proven to have lied regarding his office I think he should be banned from running for office again. Of course that would never happen plus there is the problem of whether or not you can find a politician that has never lied to serve.

  10. I don't know the answer but I do know I've had to scrape my chin off the floor many times listening to political lies, especially lately. What would their mothers say?? Maybe their mothers lied too. Who knows.

  11. Very good questions. Lies don’t seem to bother some people. They vote for the liars anyway.

  12. I totally agree. It makes me so angry when politicians lie. They influence a lot of people and can cause problems. I also think people should check the information rather simply believe it straight out...especially when coming out of a politician's mouth!

  13. I am appalled everyday when I hear or see the lies of Mr. Trump and some in his party. I think both dems and repubs lie to fit their needs because getting elected is the only thing they think about and if they need to lie, they will. I think they should be sent home or lose their seat when they are caught in a certain number of lies.

  15. I met a truthful politician once. Given that I worked with politicians all my career and I've been listening to them ever since I'm still pretty sure that he was the only one I ever met.

  16. Maybe lying should be criminalized and liars end up in prison.

  17. I think liars should have bologna stapled all over them, then be thrown in a pool of piranhas. Too much? ;) I am a little bitter; I have been dealing with a terrible liar this week who adopted a kitten from me, and is now smearing my vet clinic all over Facebook with absolute lies about the care her kitten received there (paid for on my account. I know exactly what care the kitten received.) It's maddening... she enjoys all the drama, and tells whatever lies will garner her the most sympathy. Why can't be just be honest?

I do wish politicians would be honest... such a rare thing in that profession.

  18. I find all the lying out there astounding. I no longer believe any of them. This school yard bullying is childish but it can also be dangerous. On a lighter note Red, thank you for another year of wonderful posts. Happy and Healthy New Year to you and your dear Micro Manager.

  19. ...well Red, I couldn't agree with you more, our 'Liar in Chief' in the White House should be first in line for special penalties! I never could understand this crap about 'alternate facts.'

  20. Withdrawing their expenses - travel, food, drink and superior accommodation would take the wind out of their sails. Failing that, how about putting them in a lions' cage before feeding time.
