CHICKDEE NEST BUILDING

Four or five posts ago I wrote about chickadees  building a nest in my yard. I described a nest I'd watched before and how the couples changed.

Well the couples have changed here. Yesterday I noticed a pair of nuthatches working on the nest hole.

Now I didn't get any photos. You'll just have to believe me. I think this is one topic that will see small updates.

  1. Hard to decide what's cuter, chickadees or nuthatches.

  2. I've heard that nesting places can change hands (claws??) several times over the nesting season. Bigger or more aggressive birds can just take over. Poor little chickadees.

  6. Hi Red, This is so interesting. I wonder why they switch out on the nest? Looking forward to your updates. By the way, this morning I’m in the beautiful Canadian city of Vancouver BC. OMG, so many photo ops here. Will share some on the blog when I get back home. Have a great day and rest of the week. John

  8. That doesn't surprise me, given that it happens among various species.

  10. Well isn’t that something, such a wonderful treat to watch! I’ve never saw nut hatches nesting, we have a pair of chickadees nesting on our patio, but no nut hatch,

  11. I hope the chickadees found another place for a suitable nest. You'll have to keep us posted on the bird activities. I love watching the birds especially in the Spring. Some woodpeckers made a nest in our yard and I love watching them come and go. I wish I could see the babies but it is too high.

  14. Chickadees and nuthatches. I've never seen a Chickadee and I haven't seen a nuthatch for many years - we don't get them on Lewis.
