The beginning of this week was great for complaining about politics. So I was looking for something interesting to complain about. Well, why not complain about the weather!
I don't do much complaining about weather because I've been outside for a good part of my life.
However , we did have a storm blow through here last night and it dropped about 5 cm of snow. There was a very high wind and snow drifted. We rarely see any snow drifts here so it was different. Today was sunny and a high of minus 2 or 3.
What I am looking at is how much longer the days are getting.
Dec. 20 the sun rose at 8:42 AM and set at 4:24 Pm for daylight of 7: 41.
Jan 20 the sun rose at 8:31AM and set at 5:01Pm for daylight of 8:29. So the day has increased by 48 minutes.
Who is it that's waiting for spring and counting the minutes?
Longer days are so needed. Dee
ReplyDeleteI'm sitting waiting for a Scottish spring..in an NZ Summer!!
ReplyDeleteMe, lol.
ReplyDeleteI am! :) In the height of the summer when the humidity knocks me for six, I am looking forward to the winter, now here I am. It’s a conundrum!
ReplyDelete15 minutes extra daylight every week - it's good!
ReplyDeleteNot me. Not yet. I can't get my hopes up yet. Mind you I am not minding winter for the most part.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to longer daylight and spring. But, I am not counting the minutes. Take care, have a great day!
Me…me! Waiting! We are adding three minutes a day now. A noticeable difference morning and evening.
ReplyDeleteI am! I wouldn't have guessed daylight has increased by 48 minutes but I'll gladly take it!
ReplyDeleteWe had another light snow during the night and so I will have to get out there to shovel my driveway again. My regular shoveler (my oldest son) has not been feeling well so it's up to me. A good workout and I bundle up so I haven't minded too much. I will be looking forward to Spring, too, Red but I know we have quite a ways to go!
ReplyDeleteI'm pining for all the extra minutes of daylight!!!
ReplyDeleteOur weather is holding at just below freezing at night, up to low 40's during the day. Not complaining. But I did hear that it is too dry and we need snow in tne mountains. Our mountain snow pack is critical to our summer water supply.
ReplyDeleteWe have a big storm coming tonight/early morning that has the whole country on red alert. They say it could be the worst one we ever had with regards to wind and rain. :(
ReplyDeleteIt got up to 10 F again today...whoop whoop!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I walk to the bus stop in the morning, I can now see a little light in the sky. But it is still cold here, for us anyway.
ReplyDeleteMe!
ReplyDeleteI am counting the minutes until Spring. My garden starts calling late January and February. But I'm enjoying this nice cold winter we are having. Usually we only have a few days of really cold temperatures. This year the cold has ben abundant - which is good for the garden!
ReplyDeleteThese longer daylight hours are welcome.
ReplyDeleteWho is it that's waiting for spring and counting the minutes? Red? 😊
ReplyDeleteI took the recycling out to the curb tonight, and it just felt so warm. You know you've had a spell of bad weather when 14F feels noticeably warmer to you.
ReplyDeleteWith age I realise no days seem longer anymore because of growing business in daily routine dear Red.
ReplyDeleteI like how you keep check on distance between seasonal time difference
Hope weather behaves in future for you
I am enjoying the sun today!
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice when the days are noticeably longer:)
ReplyDeleteYou could certainly complain about the weather here. We're up to about 2 feet of snow on the level, and four foot snowbanks. When roads are closed and driving is treacherous, you've got a right to complain!
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing the days get shorter in winter and then longer as spring followed. I truly understood spring fever then. I don't notice the length of days as much here in Hawaii.
ReplyDeleteOur sunset here is in a minute or two. But it's overcast and snowing right now.
