The Learning Curve is Steep

Some of my readers may remember that my desk top is on it's last legs so I'm using it for only the important stuff.
'
I'm limping along with an iPad. I'm getting blogs read and have posted a few short posts.

Now I've received a small comment which I understand well. Somebody said my posts were hard to read.as the type is small. I knew that and was hoping no one would notice. Since this is my first time using Apple things have been a challenge. I could not discover how to highlight the text and enlarge it. I always enlarge the text as I know it.'s easier to read.

Well, this afternoon I just got mad and said I won't quit until I have

Learned to cut and paste. So I decided to ask Google. After asking three times I finally got the answer and followed instructions.

So I have gone back and enlarged the print size on my last three posts.

So it feels good to have discovered how to do something.

If I keep on using Google, who knows what else I'll learn.

Fall is here in full Force

I just noticed that fall is well advanced here and that if I'm going to get any fall photos I' better take action.

Now to complicate things my computer died so I have to use the iPad . I have not become proficient with the iPad yet so there are chalenges.

Most of my garden has been taken out. The forecast is to ,turn wet and cold and I'd rather not have to take the garden out in the cold and wet.k

Well here I am two days later and I haven't been able to finish the post. The truth is that I can't get pictures on to my post.

So I have pictures on the iPad but don't know how to get them on my blog.

So posts will be few until I learn some things and get another computer.

I do read all your posts.

iPad Stuff

I've had a problem with my ipad recently. Me! I haven't used it much for the last six months. I have watched the charge and kept the battery charged.

Two or three months age I decided that maybe I should use the ipad so that it updates. Well icloud asked for a password. Easy peasy! But icloud did not accept my password. I tried a few more times and I was stumped.

Now I'm not an Apple person. I admit that I have difficulty working with apple.

Our library provides one on one help for seniors on their computers. So off I went.  Hey , they didn't even ask for my age.

Well it took a few tries before we satisfied icloud. It was a challenge. I now know how to retrieve a password or set a new one.

Then my trusty librarian friend showed me many more tricks to work on the ipad. I was amazed at the simple ways to do things. Apple thinks I'm very busy when I don't close anything and then gets very slow. So I learned how to clear off all the sites I left open and don't use.

Then the friendly techy noticed that my version of ipad was out of date so we downloaded the latest version. All the time he was showing me how to fumble my way around apple.

Then because I'm such a whimp I wanted google chrome for a browser so no problem. You can download it.

So I came home with a different point of view on my ipad. If I use it more I may become more familiar with it and like it.

So there. I emailed a selfie to myself and put it on the blog!!!!

That Damn ipad

That damn ipad doesn't like me!

That damn ipad is smarter than I am!

You knew there'd be a post like this.

When you connect an ipad to your computer, the two have to have many chats with each other. They have to line many things up so that they agree and can work with each other. Most of this goes very smoothly. In fact, all you have to do is tell the computers to do things and  it gets done. You just have to sit there and read what happens.

I had been told that all I had to do at home is connect the ipad to my computer and I would gain access to the Internet. So the ipad was plugged in and I went merrily on my way to email. Write an email, press send and it's gone. My daughter usually replies right away. Nothing. Then I tried Safari and I got a message saying the ipad was not on the Internet!

After bumbling around a message came up to load some updated software. It would take three hours! When it was finished there was a message that an error had occurred. Also my shiny new ipad was seized up! There was a message telling me six things to try to get the ipad back. I wasn't going to try any of them. I would call for my friend. My friend is away.

A few days later I thought I'll look at this again. A message appeared that said restore. I said aha. I can do this. So 10 minutes later my ipad was back. I learned a few things with that experience.

Now back to the Internet. I guess some of the things I listened to got mangled. Some things people were telling me were wrong.

I'm not on the Internet with my ipad, but I'm still working on it.

The damn thing is so smart I'm sure it will get me there.

An Ipad Mini

I recently came to possess a sleek, shiny new ipad mini!

Now I've been here before. I got an ipod a couple of years ago. It took a long time before I conquered that little ipod.  I thought I might have to get a kid to help me, but no way I figured things out  by myself.

Now the ipad mini does an amazing number of things. It does more than my old tower computer and a lot faster. I'm looking forward to doing all (well some of them) the cool things an ipad can do.

Now this time I'm not going to play the hero and set up everything on my own. No sir! I've got a very good self help book form the library. You know the ones that have dummies in the title.

Side by side!

I'm also going to do something quite brilliant.. Well, brilliant may not be the best word. Our library has a special staff member to help people with computer issues. Yes, I'm going to make an appointment and have this ipad set up so that it will do everything except wash the dishes.

I think I'm going to do a post on the ipad!
