Bloggers Block

I am suffering from blogger's block. In fact, I've been suffering blogger's block off and on for some time now. I may have suffered from blogger's block since I first stated blogging.

We've all heard of writer's block. We've probably all suffered from that too. As I was thinking of this post I thought I should do some research and look up writer's block. Sure enough . There were many sites on writer's block and most of them had ten easy ways to overcome writer's block. Then I thought , maybe I should look up blogger's block. Sure enough ...dozens of site on blogger's block. Most of them were carbon copies of writer's block. Darn! I thought I'd invented a new term. Now I'll have to research and see how many years behind I am.

Back to blogger's block. I sometimes have two or three topics for a post in my head. For some reason I may not be able to write the posts because I am waiting for something. I may need some pictures. A series of posts I never made was my trip to Chicago and my daughter's wedding. It was a fantastic trip and I had many pictures. What I needed first was one picture from one of my friends. I asked him two or three times and never got  the right pictures. After  while the fire was gone from my belly and I didn't make the posts. If I'm waiting  for some reason I can't seem to come up with new topics. I seem to be stuck until I unload the two or three topics in my head.

So here I am with blogger's block so I'm writing about it until I get the next series of photos I need.

Funny thing is that I don't seem to see any of you with blogger's block!

  1. How would you know if I have blogger's block? I wouldn't post anything and you wouldn't even notice! I think all bloggers have this problem now and then, Red. It's just a fact of life that sometimes the words flow and sometimes they don't. I think you do a great job and I always appreciate the effort you put forth to communicate with me. :-)

    1. You have a routine. We can always depend on you. You put pressure on yourself. I don't have a routine and just post when the spirit moves me.

    2. DJan hit the nail right on the HEAD. I have never thought I had writers block, when I didn't post. I just write when the thought or mood strikes me. Some people have words flowing continuously and others, like me flow when they come. Its the same way my poetry comes to me. It urges from deep within to write and when I do it just flows. When it doesn't, I don't even think about it. I have enjoyed reading your posts immensely and look forward each and every one. Reading about "blogger's block" was interesting as were the comments. Take care

  2. since i'm more of a photographer blogger than a writer blogger, i have a backlog of photos i can pull from. but i, too, feel uninspired sometimes. the memes i participate in thankfully give my blog some skeletal structure, but sometimes i struggle to put posts together. i try to keep several days to a week ahead, but sometimes if i run into a block, i get dangerously low before i can rejuvenate and throw posts back in line. :)

    1. So you are the same as DJan, you have a plan, a routine. Always enjoy your site with great photos and a theme.

  3. I often draft a post and save it as a draft. I can then pop back and edit it later. Saves remembering.

    1. I sometimes rough out a post and let it sit. I always feel that I improve the post.

  4. I might have a problem..I have too much to talk about..too many words to share..perhaps I should shut up once in awhile. I might have an affliction..diarrhea of the mouth. Relax Red the words will come. You could always just tell us about the wedding..I would enjoy that even without the photos! :)

    1. You have a unique way of telling a story which is always interesting. I am the most relaxed person there is. How could I wrote all those posts making fun of myself? I just find it interesting how I come up with ideas.

  5. Both DJan and Tex have points similar to what I was going to say. Most of us don't know when someone has writer's block. There's just a slowdown for a while and that generally happens without most the rest of us speculating about it too much. And like Tex, as long as I haven't been taking too few photos, or unable to put time into getting them blog-ready, I'm usually good to go. But I've recently been in that spot so I guess that I too had Blogger's block. It passes. ;)

  6. I keep forgetting what the great topic I was going to post about. Oh well. I could call it blogger's block...but it really is senility.

    1. Yes , sometimes a topic comes to my head and I forget. I sometimes write a key idea down. Yes some of the block could be the "S" word.

  7. I'll just echo what the others have already said, Red. I'm sure we all have a blogger's block from time to time, fumbling for words or inspiration and others may not know because there can be so many reasons why we are not that active at blogging at the moment. I guess it's good to have certain routine and it will lead you, this works for me.

    1. I certainly admire those who post daily. I have not got a routine so when things cross my mind then I have a post.

  8. Blogger's block is when you don't hear from us. I think everyone has this problem eventually. The Roman poet Ovid once chastised a friend with, "Fine, you have nothing to say, write and tell me about it."

  10. Sometimes I find it hard to find time to blog. But for me, I have enjoyed the whole process...I love taking photos, and then documenting the photo on the blog. I have enjoyed telling stories through the 'dogs point of view' and giving myself permission to write.

I try to post first thing in the morning, before the day starts or close after breakfast that I can, if I wait the "day" gets in the way and I find it hard. Like you say I have a routine.

  11. Red seeing the world through new eyes, eyes of gratitude and through my lens, keeps me inspired and I always find something in my day which touches me or inspires me to blog. Mind you I don't do a lot of writing often, I pretty much stick to chatting a bit about my photo as you know being one of my most faithful followers. The comments are always wonderful to read, I love hearing what others perspectives are. I've missed the odd day too, not because I don't have anything to say, because my day has been too busy. I am thinking next year I might back off and post biweekly or once a week, but it's not next year yet so I'll see how it goes. Thanks for sharing about bloggers block, I've never heard of this before.
