What in the World?

Did you ever get the gift where you said,"What in the world is this thing?" I got such a gift this year and the puzzling thing was that came from  someone who is and excellent gift giver.

So the box said, "Stereo speaker and something about ipod."  Now I like my ipod and the ear buds with it. I get to hear music the way I like it. It's clear and I can hear all parts of the music. Why would I want a speaker for my ipod?
The mysterious box

So today I got around to opening the box and going through the material with the stereo speaker. The directions were clear except that you need more than trifocals to see the print. They must really want to conserve forests these days when they make the print so small.

I did well until I was to connect the ipod to the device . I took my cord to hook the ipod to the computer to plug into the stereo. Something's wrong here. These don't match! They're two female ends. So I thought oops somebody has sent me something that I don't have all the parts for. I checked a little further and then said, "Oh Ya. I plug the ipod into this device not a cord." After that everything worked and it was simple.
The gizmo beside the box

It wasn't until I turned the device on and listened for a few minutes that it hit me what the purpose of the stereo speaker was for. So it allows you to listen to your music without being attached to the ear plug! I like to sit at the computer and listen to music but when I want to get up and go to another place in the house it's a small inconvenience to take off the ear phones.

So my, "What in the world is this thing?" turned out to make sense after all.

  3. Think even further ahead.. to summer. You can listen to and share your music while sitting on the deck, or relaxing in a hammock. I think your good gift giver maintains his or her record. :)

And "They must really want to conserve forests these days" cracked me up.

    1. Well, you should see the size of the print they expect you to read! I almost had to find my magnifying glass.

  4. That worked out well for you! Just think of it as a very small stereo system you activate with your iPod. :)

  5. Well, isn't that a nice present? It looks to be something you will actually use occasionally, Red. Very thoughtful gift by someone who knows your habits. :-)

    1. Actually it could be yued a lot. When I use the ear buds I can't hear anything else in he house so my manager gets bent out of shape sometimes when I don't answer.

There are so many gadgets like these, undoubtedly many of them really practical.

  8. Small print to conserve forests! I think it is a plot to have us constantly having our eyes checked.Well at least you fathomed out how to connect the "gizmo" - I must remember this term, ha ha!
The "Gizmo" would be still in the box if I got it and the "giver" of the present would have received a phone call asking them what the hell is it and to please come pronto and install it - ha ha!
You are to be congratulated for your ingenuity.
    Cheers

  9. I'll bet it turns out to be something you really grow to enjoy.

This life of new technology is a constant challenge for us 'older' people, I'm finding out.

  10. I know I'll like this.
Speaking of elderly people, new technology is constantly coming out. We are going to have to dig deeper and deeper to catch up. My wife doesn't touch technology at all.

I'm one of the few, maybe, that don't own an i-pod, phone, or anything 'i'. I usually have my music blasting from the stereo, so the neighbours can share. lol

  15. Red what type of music do you listen to and who is your favorite band of all times? I bought one of these speakers for my iPod as well, it sits on my nightstand collecting dust, maybe I really should brush it off and give it a shot, I just might enjoy it!
