Comments!

First let me say that I appreciate comments. People take time to read the post, think about it and then go to the effort to write a response. How good can it get?

Responses come in all shapes and sizes. Some responses are incredibly witty. Others offer a different view. Some are complimentary. While others share your view. And then some readers tell about a similar experience. Some express support. So thanks to my readers. You make my day.

Now I have some confessions to make. Sometimes I get busy and get behind in commenting. I just get overwhelmed and have to omit comments. My apologies. Sometimes I misread things and you wonder what I'm talking about. Sometimes my comments are just plain boring. Some of my comments are just plain vacant. So my apologies.

I do try to say more than just, "good job." I do try to vary my comments so that it's not just the same old same old from Red. I hope I'm positive and I hope I'm never rude or offensive. Now if you don't like something tell me about it. I'd rather get the chance to correct something than lose a perfectly good follower.

I do try to answer comments on my blog. That is fun. I like to follow people who respond to my comments. You have to work hard to find out who responds to my comments.

One thing in comments did bother me recently. I had been following a good blog. We commented on each others blogs and it was interesting and positive. After a while I noticed the other blogger hadn't been replying. That's okay. It's okay if you get tired of my blog and drop me. What bothered me on this one is that my comments weren't published. But I'm a big boy and life goes on. I hope other bloggers don't experience the same situation. Now don't worry . It's none of you. This blogger doesn't read me any more.

So thanks again for comments. It just adds another level of pleasure in blogging.

  2. Hi, Red. I appreciate your comments on my blog. I am way behind on blog reading and so I don't always comment when catching up. My blog is not set up to do replies, don't even know how to do that. :-/

    1. I don't think we have to comment on every post. I think that reading the blog comes first.

  3. Maybe your comments were ending up in their spam comment section? I know it happens to me sometimes and I have to manually go in there and mark which ones aren't spam.

  4. I often wonder where some Blogs and bloggers disappear to. They are there one minute and gone the next. I too enjoy comments. They are better since threading was enabled.

    1. Sometimes the number of my followers goes down and i can't figure out who left. Now I'm going to have to look up threading.

  5. I always enjoy your comments. People can have different reasons for blocking somebody, you will never know, but I shouldn't take it personal. At least you have some nice followers, as I see the amount of comment you always get.

    1. I would think that comments would have to be offensive before some one blocks them.

  6. You know Red, I read other peoples comments on your and other blogs, prior to replying, because every now and then I can say that I agree with what so n so said. Some bloggers reply to comments and some do not. That is OK with me. I soon find out the ones that just read comments that don't reply to comments and that's OK too. I understand too that some bloggers do not have time to respond to comments. I truly appreciate your comments, I truly appreciate your posts - they are inspiring, knowledgeable, interesting - sometimes silly and funny and never boring - I enjoy the effort and time it takes to prepare a post and I do enjoy your comments on my posts. Thanks a bunch and interesting read :)

    1. Thanks.
I tried not replying to comments and I couldn't do it. I feel that it is a way to recognize some one for commenting.
      Me silly??? Never!!!

  7. Not sure how your comments would be so controversial or contradictory that you would not be allowed to comment on theirs. I try not to make too many political comments because I know it is difficult to sway an opinion via blog and MOST of my bloggers are moderates and agree with me, even if they don't know that! I cannot comment on all blogs and I just read and move on much of the time, but do make an effort to comment so that they know I am reading them still. Thus is the world of blogging.

    1. Political comments can be a hot potato. Some days when I'm busy or have been away, I make sure I read the post and leave out the comment.

  9. Isn't it funny how much we care about comments? I do, too. And some of my followers, like you, feel like old friends who are sharing a cup of coffee with me as we read each other's thoughts. Oh, I guess I should say "good job" just to make you smile. :-)

    1. Blogs are a hobby the pay big benefits. Yes , there are great friendships that develop. I like the way you discuss this friendship. It makes on think about the issue. Thanks for the pat on the back. It's much appreciated.

  10. Everyone does the best they can. I don't always comment on the posts I read because there isn't always time. But I do the best I can because I enjoy interacting with other bloggers. And I don't take it personal when followers don't comment on my posts, or decide to stop following me. Life goes on!

  11. i'm wondering if you got flagged as spam and they don't realize your comments are in there and figured you stopped reading them. that happens occasionally to some folks who are regulars at my place - all of a sudden they go to spam and i have to retrieve them there.

i never reply to comments on my site. if i reply, it is via email (if that is enabled) or perhaps in a comment back on their blog.

anyway, i cannot imagine you ever being offensive to anyone. you are kind, open-hearted, supportive and loyal to your friends. :) i am blessed to count you as my friend.

  12. Love visiting your blog Red. Always enjoy the content here and your comments. You are a very thoughtful guy.
We all get a little overwhelmed with getting to everyone at times even though we would like to . I think most people understand all that. I would hope they do. Blogging seems like such a great community.
I agree with TexWis Girl. Sometimes I find comments don"t get onto the site because for some odd reason they ended up in the spam .
Sometimes I change my profile pic and have signed out of peoples blog following and had to sign back in even though I hand"t stopped following . Check with the person could be a misunderstanding all the way around ?

  13. I always enjoy your comments. I understand how hard it is to keep up with reading and commenting on blogs. I get behind also. As much as I like blogging, it has to take a backseat to other things in life.

  14. Making time to leave comments can be a serious blogging problem. It wasn't so bad when I had only a few followers but nowadays it takes quite a while to comment on all the blogs I follow. I think it only natural that we tend to leave comments for those who give them to us.

    1. Yes, there is a strong reciprocal pattern I sometimes get carried away and comment on blogs of people who don't follow me.

We are all busy people. Sometimes it is hard to reply on all the comments. But I try to do so. And I try to interact as much as possible on many other blogs. Because I think that it is important to inspire each other.

Hope to see you a lot in the future. On my blog and on yours as well ;-)

  18. Oh Red you made me laugh and wondered if it was me. I have been not commenting as much the farm is busy and I am busy and I have no excuses. Just kidding I am pretty sure all bloggers comment when they can. Possibly there is a comment thief out there.:) B

  19. I enjoy comments as well. I enjoy blogging but time is a factor when it comes to keeping up. And people run out of things to write or say. Several blogging friends have died. Try to keep it all in perspective. Enjoy....:)

  20. Hi Red I think I found your problem I posted a comment a couple of times and it has not went through I do not know why that could be your problem. It was a good comment too and wish I could remember what I wrote yesterday. :) B

  21. I think that the thing that most bloggers have in common is the strokes we get from reading comments. How else would we know that someone is listening? I used to reply to each and every comment on my blog and may go back to doing that at some point when my life settles down again but I was finding that it took me a few hours for each post to respond to so many kind people and I just could no longer keep that pace PLUS go visit them. So I figured that if someone asked a question, I could get back to them via email and if not, my return visit to their blog would be indicative of my appreciation for their visit. I really do hope to get back to replying to comments again, one day. I enjoyed the back and forth quality of the "conversation."

  22. I always appreciate your comments!! I notice that occasionally some people's comments (but not yours, I don't think) get sent to my spam comment folder, and I can be a little slow in realizing this and releasing them. :)

But I always enjoy your comments. :)
