Let's Standardize a Couple of Things

I admit that get caught clicking on the wrong computer icons from time to time. I get in a hurry, have fumble fingers or just make a simple old error. So I'll confess to my own mistakes.

What I find frustrating is that some clicks could be standardized to make things smoother. For example, the customize Google chrome icon on the top right hand corner should be somewhere else because I accidentally click close instead of customize. Then I say some very bad words to my computer. Another gripe I have is that when you sign in to a site and put in your pass word, sometimes the cursor moves automatically and sometimes you have to move it. On Face book you have to move the cursor to pass word. On blogger the cursor moves automatically to pass word. So when I sign into Face book and put my pass word in only to find the cursor wasn't there, I say some very loud bad words.

There are probably many more of these situations that I trip over and I never notice them. What are some examples of arrangements that bug you?

Now am I being overly picky? Should I just get over it and never mind?

Now I understand that each organization is trying to provide the best arrangement on the screen so that we will pick their site. It's called competition. They can compete all they want. Let them box with each other and they can compete that way. I just want a standardized screen to work with.

  1. Red, it is annoying to find that one has typed a lot of letters and failed to set the cursor in the box. Touch typing is the answer. learning to touch type is on my list of things to do. It would also solve the problem of leaving Caps Lock on.

  2. Good morning Red,
I get really frustrated with the cursor flying all over the place as well. Only happens with the laptop mousepad, but so annoying when you type in a password, only to then discover that the cursor had been visiting somewhere else, and you have to retype all over again. I am on AOL as well, and getting increasingly annoyed at how Blogger is sending more and more error messages and problems in an attempt to force me to use Internet Explorer/Google Chrome and such like. I just want to use my same old trouble free set up that I know and like.....WHY WON'T THEY LET ME? have a good weekend!

    1. I'm hoping that we'll see an update from Google that will fix some of these glitches.

  3. I have saved my password on Chrome so that when I go to Facebook and hit "enter" it goes right in. But I know what you mean about things being close to one another. When I want to add a new tab, sometimes I hit the arrows to the right of the tab icon and then I don't know how to get back out! :-)

    1. Part of the surprises I find are my fault. I was just thinking that some things could be better arranged.

  4. i don't use too many social media platforms (just blog) but there are definitely some 'rules' that should be followed. i agree with you on putting things in the top right corner that should be reserved for 'x'. :)

    1. Some of the changes are not for the better either. I realize that changes are necessary but they should improve things.

  5. I agree with you, standardized is a good thing and I DON'T like change! I just wish Blogger would quit screwing with things and leave it alone. (Now, "I'm" the one venting. LOL)

    1. I will have to admit that many of my problems are caused by me. My skills and knowledge could be improved many times.

  10. I have one. On my iPhone messenger keyboard, the send key is very near the back key for making corrections. I have accidentally sent some very strange messages that I was trying to edit.

  11. You make a good point but the way I look at is if it's a free service like Facebook or Blogger don't complaint.

  12. I agree with some kind of standards. I find going to the store and using my debit card is another pain. None are alike!
