A Senior Embarrassment

A few days ago my wife said , "Let's go to Tony Romas for Father's day lunch. Tony Romas usually has a special offer on Father's Day."

     I said, "Whatever!" I wasn't really listening.

So yesterday off we went to Tony Romas for lunch. We had our lunch and my wife asked if there was a Father's Day special. The waiter replied that he didn't know as the special deals were given to him just a few days before the event. My wife thought the waiter didn't know what he was talking about.

I usually leave a restaurant long before my wife. She can fuss about things just fine when I'm not there.

On her way out she checked at the front desk about the Father's Day special. The young gal looked shocked and said, "If it's Father's Day I'm in trouble." That's when my wife got it sorted out. Yesterday was not Father's Day! What a surprise! What an embarrassment! So I'm glad I left a restaurant early! It's one of those really embarrassing moments and it's good not to be there.

So you've really got to watch those seniors. They can get things mixed up and really embarrass you!

So do other people embarrass themselves by screwing up big time or is it only me?

  1. Ha! Part of the problem is that they start advertising Father's Day as soon as Mother's Day has happened. You can be forgiven, easily, for thinking it was yesterday. Plus, you still have it ahead of you. :-)

    1. That's a good plan. I am a very laid back type and days are not a big deal.

  2. I think you are on your own on this one. I can get mixed up on what day of the week it is, but I do consult a calendar to get important days figured out.
The restaurant staff must have had a good head shaker on that one.

  4. I can guarantee that I have done and said a thousand million things that made me want to hide my head in shame. Ah well. And I wasn't a senior then either. I keep forgetting when Mother's and Father's Day is. I only remember when my daughter mentions it.

  5. We sometimes don't even know what day of the week it is and have to look at the calender. But when that's all I can live with it. :)

  6. ha,ha,ha this is too funny. Kinda reminds me of when my Mom got dressed to go out shopping, went to the store and it was closed.....apparently, she forgot it was Christmas Eve. I remember her coming back to the house and laughing - no more sauce for her (just kidding). Loved your story and it did make me laugh. Cheers

  7. You had me worried for a minute that I missed Father's Day. Embarrassing, yes, probably - but it wasnt such a terrible mix up. The flip side is that you're getting two Fathers Day lunches this year! :-)

  12. It can't just be you. I screw up constantly and I'd be sunk if it weren't for my sense of humor and ability to laugh at myself. I believe you're blessed with this ability also.

  17. I've had my embarrassments, Red. Missing the 30km/hr signage in Surrey has bitten me bigtime. The newspapers I wrote to, suggesting they were harsh to this tourist, has bounced back to haunt me. Angry, rude, snarky comments I've had to delete. I was surprised with the RCMP. What a time!

  19. That is so funny! I am terrible at getting dates mixed up. Just like a man to go on to the car and leave his wife straighten things out (when there was really nothing to straighten out). :) My husband is always saying to me, "Mel, you weren't thinking"!

  20. As they say..."been there, done that."

  21. Well for me, Red, it has nothing to do with age. I've always had a terrible memory. Even to the extent that in my 20s I once forgot my wife's name.
