Blogger Glitch

Last week there was a glitch on blogger. Some people used more colorful language to describe it. The people who use Word Press or others knew nothing about this problem.

When a blogger posts you are notified with a small part of the blog topic covered. This usually lets you see up to 20 blogs or more depending on how you set it. If you're more than 20 blog behind in your reading you click "view more" and you see older blogs.

Well last week blogger decided to show only one post at a time. So what ends up happening you miss 10 or 20 blogs because only one is shown at a time.

Now when a glitch like this happens  , at first I don't notice it. When I do notice it I click on view more. Nothing happens so I click a few more times and I still have only one blog listed. So then I decide to go away for a while and think that when I come back the issue will have disappeared. Well it didn't disappear. I'll wait until tomorrow. The next day the issue is still there.  Meanwhile I'm missing reading blogs that are important to me. Okay, I'll go to my reading list and click  blogs one at a time and read them.. If some one has posted I'll read it. Now this is a lot of work because  most people don't post everyday.

Finally, I go to the blogger help. Click on trouble shoot issues. Keep narrowing down the issues until you get to your issue. A form comes up and you leave blogger a description of the problem. They direct you to a forum and if that doesn't work some one will email you. At once I could see that the problem was not only mine. It looked as if it was a blogger problem. Many people had gone to blogger help.

A couple of days later blogger had fixed the problem.

It's just that I go into panic mode and start beating myself up for the problem. It's nice when the problem is  solved. Did anybody else experience this problem? What did you do?.

  1. No, I didn't experience it myself but I did see several other bloggers who had posted about the very same thing.
I hoped I dodged that bullet here!

  2. I don't use the Dashboard to find out who has posted. I use The Old Reader, which seems to be working quite well now that they've worked out the bugs. Glad I didn't have to do what you did, since I follow so many! :-)

    1. Some people are on something other than blogger so they wouldn't have a problem.

  10. i don't rely on the blog roll in my blogger dashboard to read blogs. years ago, i switched to a separate reader - actually at the time, it was google reader which made the transition really easy! but they closed that down over a year ago and i switched to another reader - feedly. lots of folks use bloglovin to follow blogs, too. you have to manually add blogs to your 'subscriptions', though, as the 'follow' button doesn't do anything for readers.

  11. I heard about it but didn't experience it. I've been using Bloglovin for several months to stay informed of new blog posts, so I no longer have blogger problems!

  13. I just re-installed MY BLOG LIST. into my blog, You can see it on the right hand side. That worked last time blogger Dashboard crashed. and it worked this time. It highlights blogs you have read and puts newest to the top.
If you don't know how to do it then e-mail me. I'll Tell You How.

  15. No, I hadn't noticed any blogging issues but then again, I've not be online all that much lately. Plus I use Feedly to follow blogs. I do notice that Blogger tends to resolve those kinds of issues before too long.

    Happy Canada Day, eh?

  16. I did exactly what you did. I waited it out and checked my regulars to see if they'd posted. It was a real pain until they fixed this.

    1. A pain is a good description. You know that some people post every day and you are missing them.

  17. I've been slacking, so I haven't noticed much. I stopped using my blogger feed a few months ago - but have had mixed results with that, too. I'm glad the issue resolved itself of you.

  18. I had the same problem. I had put a lot of efforts in a post and I could not understand why there was not a single comment on the first 2 days. Then it all came back to normal.

  20. I've been away from blogging for such a long time that I missed this problem. That's the only nice thing about being away. I'm just looking in since I have a bit of a moment between dinner and giving my granddaughter a bath and then crashing from jet lag.

  21. It seems like this happens all the time. I started trying to sub by email to those blogs that had a place to do it, and that has helped some..but even with that I sometimes get two or three posts in one email, so I have missed something. What really upsets me is when I miss one of my fav blogs for days. I don't know the answer, but I agree it is very frustrating!

    1. Well that's one benefit. We can get ourselves attached so that we can't let go. I learned to live without the blog when I went way for the week.

  23. I plod along usually oblivious to tech problems. If it works I keep going. If it doesn't I give up..... so far so good. :)

  25. Yes, I'd like to be laid back! I didn't notice, as I tend to respond first to people, like you, who make comments. Some days I get behind.
