Steven Harper:Small and Petty

By now you know that I am no fan of our Prime Minister, Steven Harper. In general , I disagree with his economic and social policies.

However, every once in a while Steven Harper out does himself and  shows how petty and small he can be.

Therese Casgrain is a well known and liked Canadian whose work got the vote for women in Quebec in 1940. She was politically active all her life and was a Canadian senator for a short time. An award was set up in Casgrain's name honoring volunteers. There was a prominent photo of Casgrain in the parliament buildings honoring her and publicizing the award.the award.

Now this is where Harper steps in. The photo was taken down and the awards were cancelled. All of this was done without consultation. In its place Harper established a Prime Minister's award that features him with prominent photo and all. All those who receive the award get their photo taken with the Prime Minister.

Now how small and petty is this little shenanigan? Take away an award honoring some one else. Set up an award in it's place featuring yourself.

There is no room in our society for such little self centered people.

  2. I can't stand Harper. He is the worst we have had. He's acts like a one man show, and he treats the native Canadians horribly. I could go on and on....

  5. We got Stephen Harper making life miserable for Canadians, WE got Rob Forb - mayor of Toronto messing with drugs and God knows what else - we got so many distrustful people serving in govt jobs and yet, when they do something to make it worse or break the law, there are payoffs, behind the scene promises and deals to advance others. Our country is being overrun by corrupt peoples and why oh why does it continue. Oh, wait a minute - I just read a news flash - no jail time, no laws - free range for these types to keep continuing to break the law and just embarrass the ordinary well mannered and trustful "CANADIAN" - THE real CANADIANS ARE THE LITTLE PEOPLE - the others a just a corrupt bunch of greedy businessmen, who cover each others backs very well - the absolutely wrong people to be charge anywhere, in any position; least of all representing themselves as CANADIANS - they only care about themselves and their bank accounts or just want to prove that money talks or I love myself so much I want a "portrait " hung and all bow down . Then, in a free country, why oh why cannot the people rise up and vote this disgusting government and minions down before he steps into another war and kills off another bunch of innocents. I could go on and on but these guys will continue to be where they are, in charge and hungry for more power and continue to break laws that only they seem to be allowed to do. Whether you are Stephen Harper or Rob Ford, its all bad and its just unfortunate they are Canadians in charge and quite powerful.

  6. Boo! Hiss to Harper! I had never heard of Casgrain, but she would have been a hero to me. These things happening just north of my border are never heard of here, unless I read about it on your blog, that is.

    1. Casgrain was a feminist so yes she would be your hero. Very little Canadian news is covered in your country. It's not because we don't rate , it's because you are much bigger and have lots of your own news.

  10. Seems like her award has had some rocky times with more than a few of your leaders. Boo Hiss just like DJan said...some people just can't get enough of themselves. Write an email and encourage other Canadians to do so also! :)

  15. You are quite right Red. He seems to be so petty and always working in secrecy. He disassociated the award from Casgrain's name without mentioning it - hoping I suppose no one would notice. It is his usual way of working.

  16. Hmmmm...He apparently wants the lime light all to himself. I'm back today for my one post and comment of the week. Have been spending too much time at the computer. I posted photos from the Nat'l Bison Range - stop and have a look!

  18. One word! Typical.
That sums up the ego of a PM or a President.
However, there are times when they could be right???
    Ego is on all sides.
