Anti fanatic

      I haven't posted this week.

I've been thinking. It hasn't done me much good though.

I've been thinking about fanatics! I've been puzzling my brain. Fanatics get stuck on certain things and then they are not able to look after day to day things.

My blog sometimes interferes with my daily obligations. Blogging has made me into a bit of a fanatic. I've got certain things to do on the blog and I work hard to get enough time to do all the blog activities. I like to read posts, make comments, read comments on my blog, look for other good blogs and post . All this takes quite a bit of my time.

On the other hand, I have some anti fanatic behavior which helps to balance things out. I don't watch TV. I watch less than ten minutes of TV in a whole year! Some people are TV fanatics. That's OK with me. However, sometimes watching TV gets in the way of our daily responsibilities.

I'm an anti fanatic when it comes to sports. I don't watch sports, follow sports or talk sports with the guys. It's okay with me for people to be sports fans. It's an activity that pays benefit in many ways. We need sports. I have followed sports in the past when I had time.

So I pick and choose the things I like and enjoy them to the fullest. I think most people are that way.

Do you balance your life? Are you a fan of some things? Are you an anti fanatic of some things?

  3. Wow this hits home for me. I am a fanatic of many things maybe this is why I never get anything done. I use to be really bad to sit and plan and make things to use to follow through with projects. Then once it it time to start I never follow through or I give up. I do watch right much tv and not sure I would give it up. I don't really care for sports I get into the super bowl and that is about it. Not sure if dieting is a fanatic thing but I do worry and study it a lot but I have not got it under control yet.

  5. No TV here.....well, I mean there is a TV, but had the cable and satellite cut off 3 years ago. I don't really miss it and I gotta say it freed up a lot more time for me to play. I am one of those people that just got tired of reruns and if I were to watch TV, then my bill would be humongous because the History, science channel, documentaries etc are all in "other packages" and that is just plain ridiculous to pay so much more money to watch something that should be in basic TV. Anyway, there is always Youtube and Netflix if I want to see something. If more people walked away from TV, the cable companies etc would do 1 of 2 things. Go bankrupt or offer you a better choice in basic TV - they're still making billions of dollars and I'm spending my cable service on a new car :)
I am a total fan of baseball and football and would love to see the games on TV - AGAIN HUGE PRICE - so I settle for live radio broadcasts and podcasts and replays on my ipad mini. Have a wonderful day Red.

    1. TV does rob your time. It becomes habit forming. They are now talking about being able to order the channels you want. Maybe they are listening to you.

  6. I do balance my life, so I can enjoy a variety of things. I love blogging, but I do it at specific times, mostly during the morning. The rest of the day is for other things. And when I leave the house, I am totally disconnected from the computer/online world. No phone. No internet. I shut it all off and focus on enjoying the outdoors.

  7. I get up each day thinking of where I will go and where I was the day before with my camera.

  8. I have a routine into which I fit my blogging life. It's the first thing I do in the morning, in bed before I get up, drinking tea and catching up. I watch a fair amount of TV and just finished up the series on the Roosevelts yesterday. It has made me very curious about the entire family, so I am busy checking out the internet to find what happened to all of them and their descendants. In that way I get a bit fanatical, too. I also sometimes lose myself in a good book and can't put it down. Days go by without my noticing. :-)

    1. I was really stretching the term fanatic and having fun with it in these posts. Most of these things are things we like to do and we do them in moderation.

  9. Well, I know blogging is very time consuming. I have tried to cut back to maybe twice a week for posting: I post for Mosaic Monday, and Thursdays for Good Fences, and then comment only on those two days.

  11. I watch waaaaay too much TV. I need to make more room in my life for reading. I can't remember the last novel I read.

  12. I do balance life. Being gainfully unemployed is the key. With our health worries I've been grinding me teeth, giving myself headaches. It's far better to switch things up! We have our TV shows we watch at our leisure (DVD, and taped), but I spent hours collecting stones for a garden today. I spent hours blogging, too! It keeps me going..

  13. Are you a fanatic about posting about fanatics?

I am anti-fanatic; laid back verging on comatose is my position on all kinds of fanaticism.

  14. Well your questions generally make me think, that's for sure. I allocate my time each day as the day unfolds or as a plan dictates. Carpe diem is my motto. I can't really think of anything about which I am fanatical.

  17. I think I am a gardening fanatic but I should hope they are not the worst kind! Like you, I don't watch TV (we do not have a set). Our life style involves a fair bit of work - for instance splitting firewood and minding the stoves in winter.

I agree with one persons comment on here. The programs have been all re-runs. I have started to dabble in water paints and sketching. It is a relaxer for me. Maybe it is a hobby better put. . Most of the people you have in here. I enjoy there blogs. Sometimes I dont get there but then I will comment later.
My hubby and I right now are enjoying to go out in the fall. We visited School of Art sculptures. Did the walk around of that. Talked to some teachers, students. I have many friends who are teachers and principals. Your never too old to learn from them at my golden age. I am a social butterfly. I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth. It has got me far and beyond.

  20. I'm trying to balance my life, but it hasn't been easy this year. Between traveling, making travel albums and family visitors, my blogging has suffered. I don't watch much TV, but I do like to read. And sports... well... that's not been an interest of mine although my husband and children love it.

  22. Well blogging is a biggie for me - partly because it's a place to post my images because photography is such a biggie for me. The other part is because the people are just so wonderful. I don't generally watch a lot of TV but I have to admit that when I finally got Netflix a couple of months ago, I watched the full two seasons of Orange is the New Black in about 3 weeks.
