Trouble at Hiawatha House

I've had a few problems with my blog in the past. After lots of head scratching I found solutions.

I'm still working on the present problem. so this is just to give you a heads up on what's not happening sometimes. I'm having problems getting to the comment window in some blogs. So some people will be missing comments from time to time. I will try my est to sort this out.

Today was a very bad day on my computer all day. I could access only a few sites. the others said not available or some expression. I found that I had to adjust some of the advanced Internet settings. It's the first time I had to do such a thing.

So when problems show up you usually have to learn something new.

I think I may have used some of these in old posts. but I did get them from my ipad to my desk top!

Why do selfies exaggerate your nose?

  1. Those are really good selfies! And just a tad of info: selfies are taken at close range and this leads to facial distortions and exaggerations, particularly for your nose or chin.

    1. Well thanks. I was actually playing around with the new ipad.

  2. Selfies exaggerate MY nose, too! That's one reason I don't post many of them. Hmmm... have you tried rebooting? A different browser? Is the problem the same anyway? Curious, I must say. You are commenting on my posts, so that sure does make me wonder what the difference is.

    1. It seems like the long posts are the ones I can't comment on. I was experimenting with the new ipad for these .

  3. Hello Red, Nice selfies. (Interesting... Selfie is such a new word ... it shows up as a misspelling in my spell checker ... how do I update that? Ha ha.) I wish I could help you with the problem on getting to sites. You are so right ... It always seems like there is something new to deal with. Sure enjoy your stories on your blog. Have a good week. John

    1. I'll just have to hope things fix themselves. I was wondering if anybody else had the same problem It only happens on very long posts.

    2. I just happened to notice in that first photo your reel-to-reel recorder. How I wish I still had mine. Those machines were awesome. What kind of music do you like?

      Delete
    3. My reel tape hasn't worked for 30 years. They dry up and the rollers flatten when they're not used. The only tape I value is my wedding. I have a wide variety of music I listen to. I don't like modern country of rap. After that anything is a go.

  4. I am always amazed at the bravery a selfie takes. We never look like we really look! Your nose looks fine to me. I do want to hang more art work on that wall behind you! ;-)

    1. This gets back to my previous post on reality. I think what we think we look like is different from what we really look like. I'm trying to get rid of stuff so that I can manage when I have to move.

  5. I think I have identified the cause of your computer problems Red. You are on a secret service blacklist in Ottawa and your online activities are being closely monitored. This is simply because you are the spitting image of Herman T. Konchelsky a dangerous secret agent from Eastern Europe who also has a normal sized nose!

  9. You look Red. I have a small nose normal but I too have my nose big. Ha-ha. It matches my personality.

Just call me Nosy. I have google Chrome which I have no choice as I am not going to buy windows 7 nor 8.

As Windows xp has been disconected off. As I use windows xp. So I have to fool about also and I know some people are fed up with me and dont bother to even bother coming to me. What can you do. The smart ones who are computer smart will get to you. So With two people who helped me . I got turned about. You will work it out. It takes time. For a month I could not even use Youtube. Do you defrag your computer every week that gives you more space. and do you delete your in mails, and your sent. That I had to do. Plus I notice that some people have huge pictures on there blogs as big as there screen. It takes me so long to get in and comment. As most of there blogs each day are more then huge. So I have to take them off my list. I mentioned to them the problem. They ignore so then nothing I can do.

  13. Sometimes I think Google yanks us around until we do everything their way. On the other hand, it might be a good idea to run a virus check. If all else fails.. call in the kid next door. ;)

    And I like your selfies.

  14. Love these photos of you, Red. As for portraits, it's all in the angle and distance, I believe. That's always been my case. All these computer glitches keep us thinking, and our brains healthy, if not aggravated.

    1. Our arms aren't long enough for selfies. Yes computers are a challenge. My new camera has a movable screen so you can see the screen when you take a selfie.

  17. I share your frustration with the computer, mine has been mucking around lately and defeated even my 16 year old grand-daughter who says, "Don't know what you have done to it!" So I'm not just frustrated but made to feel guilty as well. I'm waiting to remember how I fixed it last time it did this but might have to give in and admit defeat. Nice selfies, I avoid them, am happier to live with how I think I look, rather than face that sort of reality.

    1. Yes, the remembering what I did last time is a challenge. I use the help but sometimes they tell you to do something and I have no idea what it means.

I don't like taking selfies. Mine always look so fake!

  19. Red, Sorry for the delay the internet has been very intermittent here for a bout a week.
I can't believe you still persevere with Vista. It was the worst OS from Windows by a long way. XP was little better but Windows 7 is as good as it gets. I have yet to meet anyone other than tablet users who like Windows 8.
Many of your problems are Browser issues and not OS issues. Old Browsers have trouble with handling modern web pages. Computing is not a buy and forget job it's a matter of continuous upgrading and being aware of where problems lie.
It is not cheap. The new generation of Graphics processors are in the thousands of dollars. What you get for that is the ability to create a cartoon or virtual reality film as good as anything that Disney have made and on a laptop with a few fast external hard drives. What you don't get is the ability to use this software and hardware. That is why there will always be artists.
Mac books solve the problem but not the expense in that they are not upgradeable with any ease. They don't have the physical room inside them for a start.

    1. It takes me a while but sooner or later I figure out that it's browser stuff. Also scans used to fool me. For what I do Vista is adequate. I realize that vista had lots of holes in it.t
