Darn! Wrong Date!

Now with my history, this could be a story about the wrong woman. But it's not.

On my Face book today , somebody had an example of what they thought was a humorous card which said, "Yesterday was National Middle Child Day, but I missed it." I only caught the "middle child" term  and that sent me off on a tangent.

I immediately thought, "I have to make a post on this topic."

I like discussions of birth order and  day of birth. I find the assertions and all the contortions people have to go through to make their case quite interesting.. I do not know the day I was born. I once asked one of the local autistic guys, I know well, to tell me the day of my birth. I forgot it before I got home.

So I thought I should do a little research. To my horror I found out that yesterday was not National Middle Child Day. National Middle Child Day is August 12.

So I was looking forward to posting on a topic I find interesting.

But since it's not the right day, I've been left at the altar!

So how do you feel when some inaccuracy spoils your day?

  1. Two nonsense words from Marvel comics (handy replacement words for swearing) come to mind in such circumstances: razem frazem.

  5. I feel sort of like this post left me: beginning to get interesting when the bottom fell out and it went no where. :-)

  8. For some reason Facebook does post old posts sometimes by people you know. You have to look how long ago it was posted. I am a middle child, but the only one left standing.

  9. Who knew that there really IS a National Middle Child Day. Is there one for all the birth orders? I'm the oldest, guess I'll need to do some research. :-)

  10. There is so much misinformation out there, yet people believe this stuff!
They've been critical of movies which lead people to think that they are historically accurate. Shameful, really.

    1. What I found is that sometimes Face book goes wonky and shows stuff from different times. I didn't notice the date.

  14. I don't know that there is a Middle Child Day . Have no idea how they counted it. What about those who's got 4 children? Who's going to be the middle child?

One time I greeted one of my acquaintances a happy birthday on a wrong date. I just saw greetings on her page and I didn't bother looking at the date. It was a month ago. There were no other updates so those greetings were the last ones. Embarrassed me, learned a big lesson on checking dates :)

  18. Hi Red, This is why I don't do much on Facebook. It can spoil your day. Ha Ha. I'd rather be reading the stories on Hiawatha House! John

  19. At least you didn't post that it was National Middle Child Day and have to write a correction. Fact-checking -- always smart. I was looking up the exact words to a poem I remembered yesterday and found the poem attributed to the wrong person, which I would have passed along on my blog had I not been an English Teacher and known better!

    1. That's a major mistake to have the wrong author on a piece of writing.

  20. Oh darn! I have to wait until August for your post? Neither Art nor I are middle children. I'm the older and he's the younger.
