Twin Names

I listened to a five minute documentary this morning on "Twin Names." Now apparently twin names are when people who have the same names like Bob Smith and Bob Smith.

The woman who produced the documentary had Googled her name. Haven't we all Googled our name. She found a number of people with the same name but found one person who was about the same age. She did some research and contacted the person who had her name and found some amazing information. There were many similarities. They were the same age. They were both artists. So they talked on the documentary and made other discoveries as they went along.

It used to be in the"olden days" that you rarely met anybody with the same name. With the Internet we just google and find all kinds of people with the same name. . We are usually just looking to find ourselves.

I have googled before and I find the page with all the photos of people with my name. I would look at the first page and I'm not there so I don't look any further. Today I discovered that I could find many pages with photos of people who have the same name as I have. And guess what? After about 500 photos, I found myself. The photo was a surprise as it was one where I presenting an award to someone.

Now there were some pretty scary dudes who have the same name as I have.

Forty years ago there was a kid in the Middle School next to our school who had the same name as I have. He was a handsome popular kid. He had girls hanging on him all over the place. I was kind of popular too as girls looked up the wrong phone number and phoned me.

So I learned a new term ...twin names and found that I'm a way down in ranking as far as google is concerned. I didn't check to see how many names were after mine.

Now that I think about it could there be triplet names?

So do you google your name from time to time? Do you sometimes make some interesting discoveries?

  4. I ran into it when I was younger. I was going door to door shoveling snow and a lady with similar spelling laughed and told me she had heard from a few girls. I was depressed she let them go so quickly.

  5. With my "regular" name of Jan, nothing interesting comes up, but DJan is pretty singular. You've got to have a little bit different name to come up high on Google's list. :-)

  6. I have a fairly common name but found absolutely no one with my exact name! I used to Google myself when I had a number of federal publications. Now if I google my name in images I get all most photos!

  9. There's a fairly famous Stephen F. Hayes out there, a conservative commenter on FOX news. He's an avid Dick Cheney supporter, to my horror. I also share my name with a few convicts.

  11. My maiden name was Smith. Your head spins around with that name.

The bird feeders Red. They prevent the birds hitting the windows. That is why we got them. At that house. We used to sit down and do games in afternoon and then also we used to listen to the radio as the rec room would bring in the sound direct. So then we watched the birds go in the bird houses if we did not do games.. We got it at Canadian tire.

That was so much pleasure watching them. Just to let you know

Only thing is when you plan to wash the window. Make sure you take them off as the soap suds can loosen them. .Dry your window and put back on. Our friends have a different kind and so cute as they look back at you and are not scared. You can take picture as I did.

    1. I've seen these feeders for sale and it must have been at Canadian Tire. You would get a great view of any bird that would come to the feeder.

  13. That's a sure way to waste half an hour. I know of two other mes, one is Australia and one in New Zealand but whether I found either of them on line I wouldn't know. I'm more interested in the lady who is the image of me. I hear of her every now and then from people I meet who know her. I saw her myself once when I was 19 and just stood and stared I was so amazed. Weirdly, apparently we still look alike as we have aged.

  16. Ah yes, I have Googled Alan Burnett a few times only to discover that I seemingly had an unknown career designing Superman comics. I once used Facebook to contact an old friend I had not seen for years and we conducted a long conversation over many weeks before discovering that it was someone else with the same name (who also used to know someone with a name like mine). Funny old world.

  17. My Pen Name comes up immediately with posts and of course news articles. My actual name comes up quite a bit and I discovered some time ago I have a lost cousin in Nova Scotia with my name. Kinda cool, eh.

  20. Now that you've mentioned it, I googled my name. I can tell you there is nobody else in the country with my name, mainly because anyone with my last name is related.

  21. Uh oh! I take that back. My sister-in-law used to have my name until she got married. It's a sort of a family chuckle that my husband married a woman with the same name as his sister.
