Ft. Normandeau Part 2

      The second facility at Ft. Normandeau consists mainly of dioramas that give the history of the land and it's people

     This area has recently  been redone and it is bright and airy. Many of these facilities have soft light. You are more or less standing in the dark. This one is very pleasant.

 This is a replica of a trading store.

The buffalo was the main part of the culture and economy.

Surveyors appeared

Police jacket

Police saddle

Police rifle

  7. I just found out about a small museum at one of our universities. An older brother helped with one in Nebraska, Morril Hall.

    1. Today many of these are extremely well done. tTey are also very costly and it's hard to find somebody who will do them.

  13. Hi Red, Thanks for the visit to Ft. Normandeau. Nice selection of photos to give us the flavor. I like the old store and the buffalo exhibit. Ever wonder what it was like to be alive back in those days?

    1. I do wonder what it was like to live at that time. I have a feeling I would have liked it. Your post card and train photos make me ask the same question.

  15. I thought the price uniform jacket was a band uniform until I saw your explanation! I imagine the lighting is quite authentic. I'm sure those old cabins were quite dark day and night.

  18. Appears to be very well done. My favorites in these kind of historical sites are those have "re-enactors." When they know there stuff they bring everything to life...:)
