Fresh Snow

Yesterday it snowed for about ten hours...wet, heavy, dense. snow. The kind of snow that is fresh and energizes me except when it comes to shovelling.

The snow stick got set up a few days ago. Inches are on the left and cms on the right. It shows about 5 1/2 in and 14 cm.

The wet snow stuck to the trees.

Today was very dull, gray and foggy.

Even the small cedars had to accept their load.

  3. Oh gosh! 10 hours? That's amazing. That's perfect snowman making weather, isn't it? It all looks so beautiful and here I am sitting here in shorts. Sigh... My granddaughter in Chicago told me that winter is her favorite season because she loves snow.

    1. Okay, rub it in with the shorts bit!!!It's too cold and the snow is dry and so we can't make snow men.

  6. I was in a hooded sweatshirt yesterday, on a very warm winter day. That was a good snow, and I am sure you will see more.

  8. What a beautiful snow! Gosh, and we are supposed to have sunshine and 70 degrees here today. Of course, this is unusual for North Carolina in December.

  9. Nice pictures, Red. We got the same amount... as rain. And although we've got a day off from the rain, it's coming back again Saturday. I love pretty fresh white snow but we'll not be seeing any of it any time soon. :-)

    1. You'll have to go on a hike that gets to much higher elevation and then you'll have lots of powdery snow.

  10. Wow, these photos are so beautiful. A true winter wonderland! You get the urge to get out and build a snowman. Except that we don't have any snow yet. Not a single flurry. It's very mild outside; feels like spring!

    1. We probably won't have a thaw that would melt much snow so we will have our white Christmas.
