ICE CARVINGS

One of our major garden centers has a many ice carvings for the Christmas Season. this year's theme was star Wars! Not very Christmasy,  but they didn't ask me for any advice. Businesses Put up ice sculptures to go along with the theme.

Now we went to the Mormon church display of 300 creches. These creches come from members of the church. My camera batteries went dead after 2 photos so I was very popular. I did manage one photo with the micro Manager looking at some interesting displays

Now for the Star Wars stuff. Most sculptures have the name of the character.

You can tell which is my favorite. I can tell that I should have taken photos showing more detail. I'll know better next time.

  1. Thank you for sharing this outing with us. I really love ice sculpture. I've seen very few because it was always too long a drive to go and see a display. These are wonderful. Thank you for showing us. I'll look forward to your ice sculpture next year, too.

    1. Thanks. I think it would be a bit of a challenge to do ice sculpture in Hawaii not that there wouldn't be excellent carvers.

  3. But who is "The Advocate"? The ice sculpture or the male model in the blue jeans?

    1. The Advocate is the name of our local newspaper and they sponsored one of the sculptures so they get their name on it.

  9. I like Yoda best, too, but they could have added some Christmas lights or greenery. Maybe next year! Good that you followed up with the crèche exhibit. That's definitely Christmasy!

  11. Such artistry. If I created something as beautiful as these sculptures I'd want them to hang around a bit longer. Merry Christmas.

  14. Hi Red, Enjoyed all the pictures! According to Environment Canada, at 2PM, Saturday, it's -13C in Red Deer. No worries about the ice melting. :-) But how long will they last or be on display? I agree, Yoda is the best! Neat post!
