HOW INTERESTING CAN MY WEATHER GET?

We've had a very interesting summer as far as weather is concerned. We've had two wind storms that did major damage. It's been dry and it's been hot. Oh yes, did I tell you we had damaging hail about 10 days ago?

Today was a hot muggy (25 C) ( 80 F)  day. About 3:00PM there were shower clouds forming  in the west. There was a thunder storm warning. The clouds developed and there was lots of thunder by 5:00PM.

I stayed outside to watch the thunder and lightning. I came in the house and foolishly predicted that I didn't think we'd get any rain.

Well, it did rain. 8/10 of an inch in 30 min. But there was hail and lots of hail. Most of it was marble size. As you can see my garden is trashed. Some of it will come back.

We have a storm sewer problem and the water backs up in our street. Terry Willoughby , my neighbor, has supplied photos or the truth is I stole them from Terry!!! Don't tell him.

My house is on the left.

My house is the brick house on the right. The storm sewer cannot handle the volume of water so it backs up and forms a lake. So you see I have a lake front house! Almost a house in the lake.

  2. My house is on top of a hill, so I'm a little lucky the landscape favors me in heavy heavy rain.

Though it sucks mowing the lawn.

  3. Wow ... good thing you didn't get flooding in your basement. That's a lot of rain in a short time. And that is definitely strange weather - hail in July!! It's too bad about your garden. Hopefully most of it will recover.

  4. Your lake frontage should be less expensive than some! Has it ever flooded your house or other houses?

    1. This issue has not flooded the house but it is very worrisome when you see it back up.

  5. Very good photos of the strange weather. It has been strange all over the place it seems. I saw (kn photos) hail as big as tennis balls in Pouce Coupe, BC. Thankfully the temperature here is a bit cooler than it has been but it is still hottish elsewhere in the province and the wildfires endure.

    1. I think your wildfire season will probably cool down sometime in Sept.

  6. That is a heavy storm, not good for the garden just starting to bloom I suppose. The weather has become unpredictable more and more.

  7. Sorry Red but I have a strong sense of truth and justice so I have contacted Terry Willoughby about your illegal use of his pictures. Don't be surprised if Terry gives you the cold shoulder from now on.

    1. We get this a couple times a year. It seems to only go so far and because it's flat here the water spreads out.

  16. Summer hail doesn't happen here, or at least not yet. Rain isn't happening here this summer either.

  17. Oh my goodness!! Hail storms can sure ruin a garden. I'm sorry. You have had strange weather. That looks like a pond in your front yard. We have had such pleasant weather since back in February, until this dry spell started. Even the trees here are wilted and dropping leaves. It has been two weeks now without rain and with very hot temperatures, even up to 100 degrees some days.

  18. We have escaped the storms lately, hop the hail didn't totally wipe out your garden :)

  19. Wacky weather! I've been hearing about the rain and giant sized hail stones. Hope that's the last of it for you.

  20. So now you have lake front property and I'm sure your taxes with go up! Soon you will need a rowboat to get in and out of your driveway. Is this crazy weather all on account of climate change?

  22. Wow, that's some dramatic weather you have been getting!! We've just had a ton of rain this summer. We're finally going to start our first cut of hay today. So late! That flooding on your road looks nasty.
