FRAZZLED

Do you ever get frazzled? What frazzles you? How do you manage being frazzled?

Well today was a frazzling good day around here.

I must note that some people handle these stresses much differently than others.

The Micro Manager had very carefully arranged to have her new dishwasher delivered today. They were to phone her before they delivered. She got up at 6:00 AM to prepare the house for this delivery. She really thought she'd get a phone call a few minutes after 8. Well, no call at 8. No call at 9. What should she do. Finally she phoned the store at 9:30 AM only to find out that somehow or other her dishwasher had been taken off the delivery list. Well, that would make anybody mad. The store said they'd see what could be done.

About the same time the hearing aide place called and wanted to change my appointment for tomorrow just after we told the appliance store that we had an appointment tomorrow and couldn't take delivery of the dishwasher tomorrow.

The Micro Manager decided to phone our Credit Union as I'd read in the paper that it was closing. They were very unimpressive. We were supposed to get a letter and a phone call about the closing and we had received nothing. To top it all of the two people she talked to were underwhelming. They didn't seem to get it that this was an important matter to us.

Just before lunch the appliance store phoned and said they could deliver about 1:00 PM. By this time the Micro manager was right off her game. She had reasons to be upset.

Needless to say , the Micro Manager was frazzled.

Tomorrow is anther day. Nothing is on the agenda here. I wonder what could sail in from way out there?

  1. That sounds like quite a bit of stress/frazzle for one day. I'm always glad to see the end of that kind of day :)

What frazzles me? Medical appointments. Dealing with my mom, who has quite a bit of memory loss and is argumentative about everything that anybody suggests about anything ... How do I handle frazzling days? I just keep putting one foot in front of the other. And I can talk to my husband about anything, and he listens.

  2. ...I learned a long time ago that making plans is rarely worth the effort. Just wing it!

  3. All of that would frazzle me too. Change happens, but reliability seems to be a lost art.

  4. I'd be frazzled too! That's a lot of incompetence to deal with in a single day! Hopefully you'll get all these issues worked out sooner rather than later.

    1. Yes, the dishwasher is washing dishes as we speak . So one down.

  5. I notice that you referred to the new dishwasher as "her" dishwasher! Some people might think that such a remark suggests a sexist attitude to domestic life but I can almost hear The Micro Manager saying, "Don't even think about touching that thing Red! You know what you did with the coffee maker!"

    1. The funny thing is that she meticulously finds out how it works and how it's cared for and then I do all the dishes!!!

  6. Hello, we have mail missing too. I do not like waiting around for deliveries, they are usually always late. Enjoy your day and I wish you a happy new week!

  9. It's easy to get frazzled when things don't work like they should. I hope the dishwasher came and all is right with the world now. :-)

  16. I used to get frazzled when plans didn't go as they should. Now I'm much more sanguine. My criteria is that everything is okay provided that, in the good old Scots saying, naebodies deid.

  17. I would be frazzled too. I can't believe a credit union would not get in touch with its customers. Incompetence at the highest degree. Hope you have a better day!

  18. Yep, I do get frazzled. When something doesn’t work, when too many things are happening at once, when plans change, when someone doesn’t show up, when i don’t get what i ordered. I try not to show it and I’m pretty good at that after all these years, but inside ... that’s another story! And isn’t “frazzled” a good word for it?!!

  19. Now those are the kind of things that really frazzle my husband. Most businesses around here operate like those you were dealing with. What frazzles me are messes around the house, like your coffee pot disaster yesterday. :)

  20. Anyone who has ordered something major and has had to wait for a delivery can certainly understand the Micro Manager's frustration. And when you have several things all piling at once, it's time to scream.
