YOU TUBE ADVENTURES

There are times when I some how or other get taken down a rabbit hole on the Internet! Lately that rabbit hole has been You Tube.

Now I like listening to music and with You Tube I can listen to what ever I want. So when surfing I sometimes find things that I have forgotten long ago. It's sometimes surprising when I find a group that I had long forgotten and then I find out that I have an LP , Tape or CD.

Last night I bumped into two performers that I really liked.

So first, Billy Vaughn. I had completely forgotten about Billy Vaughn. Listening to one tune brought back all Vaughn's music. The Billy Vaughn band had hit after hit. You can bet that I listened to a few if his tunes last night.

The second performer I rediscovered was Mr. Acker Bilk who made much music popular with his clarinet . It's always interesting the long road that performers have to take to get to the top of the heap. Acker Bilk was English and became popular overseas as well. So I did have a tape of Mr Aker Bilk that I remember listening to many times.

So take a listen to these long forgotten performers . Some of you will remember them from a long time ago. and some of you will discover some great music.

  1. I did not remember these musicians at first but as soon as I heard the music it came back to me. It is beautiful and much of it reminds me of some of the old movies from the 1940's that I have always loved. Thanks for taking me back!

  2. I have an Acker Bilk CD which I listen to and enjoy. No YouTube for me, too time consuming.

  3. I keep getting messages to subscribe to the YT music app, but I resist paying for yet another internet app. Are you paying for this or just surfing the freebies?

  5. Ah! Acker Bilk - "Stranger on the Shore"... so peaceful and evocative. The name "Acker" was just his nickname. It means "friend" or "pal" in the Somerset county dialect.

  10. Finding music on the internet is one of the best things about this connectivity we have. It's a great way to not listen to the news.

  11. I've found a lot of music on YouTube from my past and a whole other bunch that I missed. I enjoy the documentaries on various bands that I've found as well. It's one of the good things about the internet. I don't really enjoy the ads sprinkled throughout the longer pieces, though ... but it's better than having to pay to see what you want, I guess.

    1. Yes, I'm about 50 years behind in music. I'm not familiar with today's music, but if I live long enough I'll get to it.

I was amazed to read a previous comment that the blogger had never heard of the 2 you mentioned, but then is likely much younger than ourselves :-)
