Well happy birthday to my brother! The Irish twins are the same number in age again for the 85th time. My brother was born two weeks before I turned one.
I often think of my mother and how she coped with a new born and a one year old. She had no conveniences. She did not have a washing machine. Imagine washing all those diapers by hand. There was no running water. In the winter they melted snow.
However, we survived. this photo was three years ago.

That pair of boys look like they caused a few jolly adventures! Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteThat pair of boys got into tons of mischief.
DeleteA nice photo of the two of you. Happy Birthday to you both!
ReplyDeleteI'm not really that much shorter or smaller. The camera angle didn't flatter us.
DeleteGreat photo! A Very Happy Birthday to your brother. And your Mother was an amazing lady. She must have been very proud of you both.
ReplyDeleteshe was too busy to be proud of us!
DeleteSo different..but the same..you are ! Happy birthdays both 🙂
ReplyDeleteThis is not good photo . The proportions are wrong.
DeleteHappy Birthday! Great photo of you and your brother! Take care, have a great day!
ReplyDeleteGood photo but the proportions are not right.
DeleteHappy birthday to you both. Your poor mother must have been at her wits' end, but people 'just got on with it' then.
ReplyDeleteMom did get excited some times but she was good at going with the flow even though it was tough.
DeleteYour mother must have put in very full days.
ReplyDeleteAnd at the end of those full days she read to us. All four kids and mom in the bed. It was one of the best things she could have done for us.
DeleteYou both look great. Happy Birthday Melvyn
ReplyDeleteThanks.

ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteHappy Birthday to your brother! Times have sure changed since you both were born. Wishing you both many happy, healthy years to come.
ReplyDeleteYou're right that things have changed. For one thing, I have two kids who are 54 and 56.
DeleteYour mother didn't have any of the modern conveniences that make raising babies easier. But she also didn't have any of the modern problems that we now have for raising babies either.
ReplyDeleteLife was tough
DeleteEighty-five times the age’s the same,
ReplyDeleteYour mom deserves a Hall of Fame!
Our Mom was an awesome cook even though she only had a wood cook stove.
DeleteHappy birthday to your brother! I am a twin, and my brother and I were born when our older brother was 3 1/2 years old. That must have been quite a time for my parents! (NewRobin13)
ReplyDeleteIt must have been quite the time for your older brother.
DeleteHappy Birthday to both of you! No running water, I can't imagine.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard for me to imagine but we survived.
DeletePeople just did what had to be done in those days. I can't imagine it.
ReplyDeleteIt was fairly simple but heavy on the labor side.
DeleteYour mom must have been quite the woman. Nice photo of you both.
ReplyDeleteOne of these days I will have to do a post on my Mom.
