Our winter weather has been fairly standard this year although many people would disagree with me. But that's typical of winter weather discussions.
We've had some long spells of very cold weather. Lows below minus 30 C for two or three weeks without a break. Then we had two and a half weeks of record breaking mild weather.
On Thur. Feb.26 it was plus ten. In some places the roads were becoming slushy. By midnight it was minus 10.
So what I'm trying to say is that winter weather is variable with longer spells of cold and warm. In March the weather changes but the changes are quicker so the times of cold and warm are quicker.
So I'm about to look at the length of days. We are starting to notice warming from the sun,
I can get hopeful about spring but it's not here yet.
Hello Keith! I've been away to Hokkaido wearing 6 layers of clothing and having days of winter white-outs. I don't know how our tour bus driver could stay on the road and not get into an accident. I'm not back to posting yet, but will be reporting about our trip in a couple of weeks. I'm hoping you are able to have an early spring. My daughter says the weather has been up and down in Chicago.
ReplyDeleteSpring sends us a day or so to keep us going until the proper arrival!
ReplyDeleteWe’ve had some nice days >0 although it is cold this morning.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope the weather cheers up soon. Good weather is worth waiting for.
ReplyDeleteWell I've seen spring come 68 times. I'll bet there will be a 69th!
ReplyDeleteWell, our temps are not quite as low as yours but it has been up and down here too! I'm enjoying the longer daylight and hoping for more sunny days.
ReplyDeleteI am hopeful for Spring also...but it is not here yet either!
ReplyDeleteThe sun seems much brighter and warmer and the days are longer too.
ReplyDelete53 F here today, with sun streaming through the windows. Not nearly enough snow this winter, so ski business is hurting and summer water will be a problem.
ReplyDeleteThe longer hours of daylight are wonderful and the time spring ahead next week.

ReplyDeleteHere in Sydney I am getting very hopeful that the hot and humid end of summer will soon turn to autumn.
ReplyDeleteYour lengthening days will be a joy.
March is coming in like a lamb! I opened my back door to let the sun shine in. Yet, my warm winter gear remains close by!
ReplyDeleteThe very quick and surprising changes in weather have been observed here as well, despite we live in hotter part of land the changes in weather are obvious enough to get into notice sometimes
ReplyDeleteI have read same thing on few other blogs as well
I just wonder if universe is put in to some kind of faster wheel going back and forth
One thing is so obvious that weather conditions aren’t stable anymore for some reason
We seem to have a long cold spell, seems like months to me.
ReplyDeleteI am hopeful for spring, but our last frost can be in early May.
Take care, enjoy your day and happy 1st week of March.
It has been a cold winter here in Finland. Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteOur winter has been up and down in temperature, but milder than usual with a lot of snow. It has helped our provincial drought situation, though.
ReplyDeleteSometimes the winters can seem so long but one thing I miss about the north are the chinook days. Do you get those where you live?
