SOME HISTORY ABOUT HIAWATHA HOUSE

I quite often see bloggers go back and look at what the blog was like a few years before.  I find this very interesting.
A few weeks ago, I had some extra time so I decided to look back. Well, I had trouble finding out how to go back. I couldn't find what I was looking for.
So today I took another go at it and somehow things popped up immediately.
So I went back to my beginning post in September of 2008. I did just one post in 2008. I wasn't on the internet and was using my daughter's computer.
2009  was better. I stated to post more. I didn't really understand comments. My very first commenter was John from John's Island. John still follows me today and makes interesting comments.
I told one of my friends about my blog and he followed me  bit and made comments. I must have shamed my daughter into making comments. Her comments were always longer than my post.
I was still experimenting with format so there were different colors used. I could find my way around making changes to the blog. Today I cannot make changes such as color.
I've had fun writing this blog but the best fun is the conversations with followers.
So thanks for reading me and the conversation I have with you.

  1. The interaction is what makes it. But people come and go. I had someone pop in and comment after an 8 year absence. Frankly, I don’t remember her although I do remember her name.

  2. It's interesting to look back on posts written a long time ago, and to wonder about the commenters then and now.

  3. Our blogs are a good ay to remember the past.
My hubby and I look back at my blog for all the good memories.
Take care, enjoy your day and the new week ahead.

  4. It was through John that lead me to following your blog and I am thankful for that! I have the "Blog Search Gadget" set up on my blog which I use often when I want to look back for something. It also allows followers to search for something within my blog.

  5. I started back in 2003 but many of my posts were more preachy in nature though some of my series posts were hits. When I redid things a handful of years ago, I took the opportunity to remove many of those preachy posts and just leave the ones that are more like what I continue to write not. My audience is completely different today than it was back then too. I think I have only one person back then that still reads and occasionally comments these days.

  6. I think your blog is terrific, Red. I have looked back sometimes using your Blog Archive when you mention something that I wonder about. You have wonderful stories to share and I hope you keep posting!

  7. It is fun to go back and look at old posts. I've stopped and started my blog so many times, and also at one point, just deleted the old posts. I now regret that because like a diary, I think I could learn a lot from my feelings and doings during that time frame. I do love reading your blog, and as much as I like to decorate mine with different colors and layouts, I don't look at that when I visit others. It's all about the life adventures that other folks I feel a kinship to have.

  8. I've had fun with mine too, and the best past is the community of bloggers I'm now related to!

  9. I think a lot of us started blogging about 2008. I did too. Unfortunately I erased photos for some of my early posts before realizing they would be gone forever. I use old posts to find photos no longer on the iCloud. It's fun to look back.

  11. I am glad that I stumbled upon you all those years ago Red. Having you in my life as a blog buddy has, in a small way, enriched me.

  12. I can't remember when I started visiting your blog but I have enjoyed it ever since. I started blogging in April 2008 and it was because I wanted a place for storing my photos, a safety net. I'd read about it somewhere and remember being very shocked at that first comment. I didn't realize at the time that it was open to the world wide web. I've met a lot of good people since, you included.

  13. Dear Red I enjoy reading your posts so much!
I am glad you went back to earlier posts . My son did not make any comments to my blog but he made me join few communities which increased the visitors ,sadly I lost my many earlier blog friends when I went absent from blog after the death of my parents!
When I came back after a year or less probably I visited all of them regularly but I noticed no one visited me back. But then I visited new blog friends and stayed with those whom I liked most.thank you for being here!
