I was prompted by Mr Pudding from Yorkshire Pudding to ask some questions about blogging.
I asked and I got some great comments on the situation.
First I had to look back on my follow list. I haven't followed a new blog for maybe 5 years. If I'm going to be an active blogger , maybe I should get busy and reach out and find some new blogs to follow.
Many times I have a hard time coming up with topics. I like to have something meaningful to say and try and make it interesting. I find that an idea will pop into my head but by the time I come to write about it, the idea is gone. Maybe I should write the topics down
I'm a lazy blogger. I do very little research for any of my posts. I guess that's another thing I could sharpen up on.
A few months ago I looked in my archives. There was a tremendous difference in my writing and topics at that time.
So I guess I have to remake myself if I'm going to interact ands communicate with more bloggers
Well, I've been blogging for a long time and plan to continue to do so... but as to whether my posts are interesting or not... that's another matter. I don't blog to teach anyone anything, and I don't read others' blogs to learn something (...but occasionally I do). I just like seeing what other people are doing or thinking about... and also really enjoy seeing their pictures. IMO it's just a glimpse into other lives.
ReplyDeleteRemake... or revive? Having a wander around the blogiverse can inspire!
ReplyDeleteYou have got to "be yourself" in blogging Keith. I don't think of you as a "lazy" blogger but as a relaxed, genuine one and I hope that does not change.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I am not a writer, my blog is more of a photo blog.
I blog mainly for me and my hubby, a keeper of memories. A look back at what we have seen, places and people along the way. Take care, have a great day and happy week ahead.
Yes, keeping a list of possible post topics is a good idea. But I always like what you post and think you are not lazy at all, Red.
ReplyDeleteYou don't need to "remake yourself" at all. It's your blog! Do whatever you want!
ReplyDeleteI like to write and I like to take photos, so I blog to share both. My life is not very exciting and while I have plenty to say about politics, most don't want to read about that, or I am preaching to the choir, so I am posting less often.
ReplyDeleteI see most of the blogs I read as just neighborly visits.
Please do not remake yourself. Just tell us what you do...you know daily activities or stories:)
ReplyDeleteThis post, and the one before it, have been especially interesting to me. Your previous post (June 26) asked … Are we slowing down on blogging? I guess I am because I was too slow to come up with a comment before you published all 19 that are there now. I really do think things are slowing down, at least for me they are. Lately I’ve read several articles by “experts” that say we humans are spending too much of our time on screens. I wish you were still replying to comments so I could get your thoughts on this. Anyway, I like all of Mr. Pudding’s suggestions for you to blog about (in his comment on your Friday, June 26, post). Lastly, I don’t think a person needs to be blogging all the time … I mean, if they want to … so be it. But I’m not going to call those of us who blog in a relaxed way, lazy. It’s just that we have other interesting things to do in life. 😊 Take care and say HI to the MM.
ReplyDeletehi there. I think you've already taken the biggest step by reflecting on your blogging habits. Maybe keep a notebook or use your phone to capture ideas the moment they come to you. You don't always need a big or profound topic, sometimes everyday moments make the best posts. Reading and commenting on a few new blogs each week might also bring fresh inspiration. Most importantly, don't try to reinvent yourself overnight. Small, consistent changes often make the biggest difference. Happy blogging!
ReplyDeleteMy problem with blogging is when "stuff" happens at our house. It's getting hard to keep up with blogging and coming up with topics as more and more of our time is taken up with caregiving duties.
