THAT'LL TEACH YA

Two topics are common on this blog. One topic is everything jack rabbit. The other is the micro Manager.

Today  both topics are in one.

I have many blogs and photos of various jack rabbits who visit and reside in my yard. Jack rabbits are active all night and look for a safe place to spend the day. About 50% of the time I have a Jack rabbit in my yard all day so they are easy to watch.

Now the Micro Manager is in my house day and night so I see and hear her in action day and night.

On many topics and issues the micro manager disagrees with me and makes no apology for telling me.

From time to time the odd jack rabbit misbehaves  and eats some of my plants. They particularly like new plants. Recently I set out tomatoes and corn. So one day I noticed the little corn plants had been given a severe trim.

So when I reported this to the Micro Manager her reply was, "That'll teach you for encouraging them to be in the yard!"

This has happened before and the plants survive. Before this I was able to close the back yard. This year I've lost some of the fencing so I can't keep the critters out.

  2. Hi Red
The rabbit trimmed the corn with flair,
the Micro Manager judged from her chair ...
“Invite the bunnies, plant the treat.
Don’t blame THEM when they start to EAT!”

  3. I am not much of a gardener but I have seen neighbors put up little wire cages around their new plants to keep the rabbits out. Or maybe you can have your fence fixed?

  4. Have you ever tried blood meal? The smell supposedly keeps them away.

  5. I'm trying a pinwheel to keep squirrels away from rose moss in a raised bed. Rabbits are smarter. Linda in Kansas

  6. We have had a few plants eaten either by rabbits, deer or groundhogs.
Not sure how to keep the plants safe. Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.

  10. Sounds like you might need fencing to keep The Micro Manager out! "That'll teach ya gal for messin' with Big Keith!"

  12. I know it's a pain when the wildlife help themselves... but we've lived here for over 40 years and have shared what we have with the critters. It works for us. I'd love to have jack rabbits. We have coyotes, bobcats, raccoons, possums, box turtles... and feral cats. There are rabbits in the neighborhood, but never in our yard.

  13. I think the reaction from micro manager was pretty normal being wife
And same goes true for rabbits honestly
Back in our home (right now we in rental in Islamabad) hubby had planted pomegranate many years ago,it started fruiting but squirrels were fond of them and they would turn them into bits . Hubby tried many ways and then gave up .
So sometimes things are just like that
But I hope fence will be helpful
