I've been know to tell a jack rabbit story or two. I've also told a few deer stories.
However, this last while I've been losing the war with a deer..
A few weeks ago a deer or some deer came in my back yard and ate all the tomatoes that were on the plant exterior. I don't have a gate to my back yard so put up some barriers to keep the deer out of my back yard. It worked.
So it got to to the point where nothing was left to harvest so I didn't put the barriers up. The deer were in the back yard immediately. The first time I caught them I tried to scare them out of the yard. I then decided to go out and move them out of the yard. I came into the back yard and they stood and looked at me. I yelled and they moved around the corner of the house. I said aha. I'll bet you go around the corner and stay there. That's exactly what they had done.
The next time There was only one deer to catch and then he got very cheeky and laid down in my yard. All the time he was feeding and making a mess.
I took the carrots out and left them on the step. Big mistake. They nibbled on some of the carrots and spread them around.
So it's been quite and adventure. I guess the beginning of the rut is happening and this big buck is putting his scent in my yard.
Once I told my story , people said that I should be careful as deer have been known to run at people.
