Surprise Video

The other day, driving through the mountains, my wife must have become completely bored or awed by the scenery. My wife decided that to take some photos while we were driving would be a good idea.

Now let's back up a bit. My wife doesn't do anything digital. She's used the camera a couple of times with my directions. Each time she uses the camera, it's how do I turn this thing on? And what do I press to take a picture?

As I was driving , I couldn't offer her much assistance. She got the camera turned on. Then , "I can only see a picture!" How do I gt it to take a picture. I realized the camera was on playback images so had to tell her to slide the bar to the left to get to take pictures. She couldn't find take pictures.

Finally I realized she was on video. So that's alright just slide the bar  a little further left. "Oh now I've got it!" she says. She then took a few photos as we were driving in the car.

Well, two or three photos and that was enough for her.

When I got home and downloaded the photos, I noticed a video. Yes she did press take a photo. So I have a very surprising and poor video. There's the back end of a semi stuck in front of me , but the trees are really zooming along at the side of the road and there's a good view of the dash of the car.

Now I've never loaded a video on my blog. I'm not sure I did the right thing. so feel free to give me some advice.

  5. I don't know how you loaded this I'd be interested to find out.
Normally people upload via an on-line service like Vimeo or YouTube. This looks like a GIFF file.

    1. This is an accidental jpg. So basically I download to youtube and go from there. If I get stuck I can always ask Adrian.

  8. Wahoo!! Micro Manager's first film - Congrats - I could see it fine. Fine view of the beautiful sky, clouds and also mountains - you've got something dangling from your mirror - not bad for first video - yup, its auto-playing alright :)

    1. The dangly thing on the mirror is a ribbon so the micro manager can tell that it's her car and not somebody else's.

  10. Oh I love it a video captures the moment just as it is. Your wife is very clever, I felt like I was there with you two enjoying the ride. No mistake I am sure it was the best thing to do. Oh look at those mountains. Hey how fast were you driving? B

  13. You dun good, toots! I'm the same with my hubby. It's a struggle to have him take a photo. Our son-in-law has installed a go-pro type camera on his dashboard. That makes things easier!

    1. I agree with you that a blog teaches you an awful lot in a hurry. I had nobody to help me so I learned by trial and error.

  18. My husband usually doesn't touch my cameras. I don't do a lot of videoing.

  20. Giving technical instruction for anything with lots of buttons is risky business. It take iron will and self control while driving. You did good....:)
