Don't Pop My Balloon

Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon?
Would you like to glide in my beautiful balloon?
                                             Jimmy L. Webb

This morning right after breakfast I looked out and there was a balloon floating by! I'd seen the same balloon a few days ago and it was right over my house. This time it was a little further away.

One of the things in my bucket list is to go on a balloon ride. This might just be the trigger to get me going.

Then I thought about all the sayings about balloons. There are sayings for many occasions and moods. And then there are songs. My head feels like a balloon!

Then I looked at the photos I got of the balloon. When I started looking over the photos the balloon was gone so I couldn't try making different shots. Obviously I have to include something in the shot that is a reference point. It was fun to work with the zoom on this one. I'm a little wiggly when it comes to handling a zoom.

Sometimes you get the unexpected in a shot. I saw something on the right of the balloon. When I blew it up I noticed it was a sea gull!

What's your favorite balloon saying or song?

  3. Oh nuts! That's what you started your post with. Maybe that's why it popped into my head so quickly that I wrote without thinking. Sigh.. I can't think of anything else.

  5. I do not have a favorite saying, but like you, I would like to take a balloon ride over some lovely area. I am a little hesitant, as these summer weather changes are sudden and nasty.

    1. Balloonists have to be very careful. You will have to try 2 or three times before you get your ride.

  6. I don't think I will join you in the balloon, so high in just a basket frightens me. I prefer an aeroplane with windows.

  7. "I'm FREE.....FREE AT LAST". I don't think anything could quite "top" a balloon ride. Nice shots Red. I hope you get your ride.

  8. One can ride by the hour near here or jump out of a plane. Check with the small airports.

  9. Makes you wonder what that gull made of the big new object in his air space.

  10. I have jumped from a balloon three times in my skydiving career. It was a lot of fun but scary, too. I have always enjoyed the mental image of a lead balloon.

  11. Love your photos of the balloon. What fun! But I have a deathly fear of heights, so needless to say, I would never ride in one of them!

    1. Thanks. How about mountain climbing in Montana? There's lots of exposed areas there. I've been to some of them.

    1. I guess the noise from the propane burner would get the horses going.

  17. Hi Red, My first thought about balloons is "balloon boy" ... ha ha ... Remember that kid in Colorado who went floating off in the balloon and it was all over the media ... breaking news, etc. ... ? Then it turned out the kid wasn't in the balloon after all. The whole story is on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balloon_boy_hoax

  18. Up, up and away is a snippet of a song I have heard forever but don't know the name. I love to watch the balloons when there are many of them, of all different shapes and colors. It's not on my bucket list, but that's just because I have a goal of keeping my feet on the ground until I die..including no airplanes! LOL!

  19. I once saw the morning sky filled with colorful balloons at a balloon festival in North Carolina. It was a wonderful sight. This isn't a quote but what came to mind is a poem by e e cummings that I love. You can read it here:

  20. I think my daughter in-law took that ride In Florida. Not sure if my son did. On holidays. She liked it and she went on that thing she hangs. Like a glider.
I like airplanes but for me to take this. Not too keen on it. Good for you if you wish too. Great takes Red. Awesome all. A song. I only know what Kay said.
