My Paper Was Late This Morning Wha! Wha! Wha!

My paper has to be delivered before 6:30 AM. Until recently I've had a handicapped man deliver my paper and he would be out at about 3:00 AM so there wasn't going to be any problem with him. After that he went to his day job. This meant I could take a quick look at my paper before or after breakfast and read it later in the day when I had time.

Apparently I have new delivery person now and he let me down. I looked for my paper at 7:30 AM and it wasn't there. I phoned the paper and they said it would be delivered. Now usually when that happens you get your paper in less than half an hour. I looked a 8:30 AM and no paper so I phoned again. I looked at 9:30 AM and still no paper so I phoned again. Finally about 10:15 AM I received a paper.

Now usually I'm an amiable kind of person and don't get too upset by little glitches but today I am quite disturbed. I delivered papers for two years and know how the system is supposed to operate. My expectations were that it would operate in the same way and I would get my paper. So I am crying about my late paper. Now I expect that I will get a lot of sympathy from my kind hearted readers because this is a great tragedy.

  1. At least you get same day service.....ours is often three days late......and then we have to drive 10 miles to get it.

  2. I knew I'd get a lot of sympathy. When I was in the north we were without mail for six weeks during freeze up and break up. I didn't mind that at all. Anyway I can remember my days on the farm when we got mail once a week. Mail days were exciting.

  3. Perhaps you should get yourself a paper route then you would have your paper before anyone else!

We don't get a "real" paper..we only read online:)

  4. I now read my news on line, for that simple reason: when I lived in Boulder the paper would sometimes (often) be late, and I left for work at 7:00 am. So it would start my day with me grumpy. Now when I turn on the computer, there's my daily read!

  5. I think it's coming to enews for everybody before long. What do you do about the beloved flyers? My wife values the flyers for her weekly shopping.
I know we're grumpy without the paper but really not that grumpy.

  6. Far Side, I would have a paper route except the routes have become 150 papers before 6:30 Am and that's not fun. I think the days of a paper are not long and then we'll all read enews.

  7. I still like to sit down with a real newspaper, despite the awkward size and smearing ink. Once a year or so, it doesn't arrive at all. We call, leave a message, and nothing happens. Even though I can read it online, I'm still annoyed.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog today.

  8. Blissed -Out Grandma, thanks for visiting Hiawatha House and leaving a comment. First time commenters get an asterisk on my wall!!!
It's funny that a once a year glitch with the paper gets us bent out of shape.

  9. Our local area paper delivery is sporadic at best, we never know if we will get one or not as it tends to be a hit and miss system. I must say when it came regular it got read, but with its haphazardness of supply this last year I tend to not even bother with it anymore.
It is frustrating to have to have worked a job and find your replacement is not up to task.
When I was young we had to deliver papers everyday after school and if we were too late my poor Mom would receive calls. Taught us a wee bit of responsibility I suppose.

  10. It's too bad that the service for delivery is so limited. Papers are going broke and good service could help.
I think news papers are important for many reasons. They used to teach kids an awfully lot of very practical responsibility.
