The rain was welcome Our grass was starting to show some heat stress. We weren't dry, just hot.. We probably had 250-350mm(1-1 1/2 in) of rain.
A blogger I follow in Montana received some precipitation but they had been very dry. Another blogger I follow in southern Alberta also cooled off and got wet. The weather radar showed a large system centered around Lethbridge , Alberta. It extended to both borders of Alberta and down into Montana.
So we have a welcome break in the hot weather.
Today at 1 PM we had a thick layer of cloud that gave complete overcast.

lucky you! we actually got 2 inches of rain here yesterday in texas for which i was incredibly grateful. so much of the midwest and west is suffering this year with drought, and so many in the east and ne are sweltering, too.
ReplyDeleteThe west has been cool and moist but everybody else seems to be hot and dry. Hope the rain helps out .
DeleteSend it south, it was 102 here this afternoon!
ReplyDeleteI'll do my really windy performance and see if I can blow something your way.
DeleteIt's cooling down here as well. Actually, we've yet to receive any real hea.
ReplyDeleteThe west is about the only place that's been cool this summer.
DeleteI've never liked the heat and like it less the older I get. But July has been a wet and pleasant month, but I think that is changing this week.
ReplyDeleteIt seems most people can get used to what ever is most common. some of us can't. I hope it stays pleasant.
DeleteRed we got tons of rain here in the city, so much so that I had water coming into the basement.... grrrr. All I can say is thank goodness my renos aren't done yet and the same company who is doing the renos are also ensuring I don't get any more water in my basement. I just hope they get to work soon!
ReplyDeleteThis cooling off period sure is welcome, especially not having AC.
Have a wonderful week!
Sorry about water in your basement. That's never fun. I checked my sump this morning and there's water in it.
DeleteThat's a good thing right? Better in the sump than all over the basement!
DeleteStill a burner here, no rain for ages
ReplyDeleteOkay it's your turn..I hope.
DeleteI am glad you got some relief from the heat, Red. We are still awaiting our hot days of summer, and I'm in no hurry. It got to 23 C here yesterday and was as hot as I ever like it to get!
ReplyDeleteYes 23 C is about enough. But I hope it's clear so you can go jumping some more.
DeleteClouds, rain, we need some badly. I'm glad you have a break in temperatures. Many of my clients are suffering from that.
ReplyDeleteIt rained to the south and the north, in Ottawa, but precious little here.
I'm afraid to do laundry and flush the toilet!
sigh.
Terrible drought.
Greetings from Cottage Country!
I knew it was dry but I'm surprised to find there's a shortage of water. So no dirty clothes for a while.
DeleteAnd a blogger you follow in Huddersfield is so fed up of the constant rain he is thinking of moving to Canada.
ReplyDeleteYou'd be welcome! There is everything from really dry to really wet. In Alberta if you don't like the weather, just wait a minute.
Deletewe have another heat advisory today of temps near 100...and no rain agin in sight! our grass is brown and crunchy...we would take any rain we could get!!
ReplyDeleteWhen you're in a weather pattern like that it just seems to go on and on.
DeleteRed
ReplyDeleteGreat that you got your badly needed rain. Today is the 18th day of July and we have had rain for 17 days!!!! It just won't stop.
Monday was sunny - ALL DAY! And people were blinded by the yellow thingy in the sky!
Actually a couple of northern Qld blogs I look at in their areas, they also had a full day of sunshine - the cattle and crops loved it!
It is not heavy rain and all the dams, reservoirs, rivers and creeks are full but thankfully no flooding yet.
The major concern now is that with the burst of growth in the rural areas and close to towns
that if the summer is hot, dry and windy then it will be WHOOSH - bushfires! And that is bloody scary. Mother nature sure works in strange ways. Some areas overseas, especially the USA are screaming for rain and here we are screaming for sunshine! I think the weather gods must be drunk - ha ha!
Cheers
Colin (Brisbane.Australia)
Weather report: You guess!!!!!
We get an annual precipitation of 14 in. Most of it falls in June with May and July getting some. Our winter snow is dry so doesn't account for much.
DeleteGOOD! A break in the heat is always delicious!
