I did not get any pictures last night. I have a few pictures from today. I like to see plants covered with snow that they trap and hold.
The Kerry Wood Nature Sanctuary |
Today I took pictures at the local nature center.
Shrubs loaded with snow at the back of the Nature Center |
Walkway on the right is barely visible. |
I hope this helps to cool off a few Australians who are burning in the heat.
One more look. |
awww. sweet to dedicate it to the aussies. i do believe they need it and appreciate it. :)
ReplyDeleteI guess sometimes Texans could use some of this as in some areas it can get pretty hot.
DeleteWe had a light dusting of snow here in Portland today but it didn't last as long as I think your snow will.
ReplyDeleteYou also have a very wet snow. Ours is dry and powdery.
DeleteVery pretty! We have about as much here. Nice to see it but also nice to see it go!
ReplyDeleteWhen it goes I like to see it go quickly and then we're over the mess. It's not going anyplace right now.
DeleteWe had 5 inches of liquid snow the past 3 days and more is coming this weekend. It is not beautiful like yours. But I think we are out of the drought.
ReplyDeleteNice to think of the Aussies.
So I assume liquid means wet snow. That way you get lots of moisture. Our snow is dry and powdery.
DeleteHeading our way on Sunday or so they say.
ReplyDeleteYou can get a wide variety of winter where you live. You have to be prepared for anything.
DeleteNice of you to think of the Aussies with that nice cool snow. We had an abrupt change in weather. Two days ago, it was -17 - yesterday it was +8 and this morning's warmth at 7am tells me today might be a blockbuster. We ate lunch out on the deck yesterday in the sun and the warmth felt good. Today its all about snowshoeing and packing a lunch in our packs - outdoor fun. Nice photos of your new nature center Red.
ReplyDeleteI thought these wide temperature ranges only happened in Alberta where we get Chinooks! It would be nice to even sit on the deck let alone have lunch.
DeleteWe got a smidgen yesterday but it's all gone already. They have plenty in the mountains, though. Nice shots of the white stuff, Red. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt always amazes me how much snow falls in the mountains. If you are in the mountains on a day like this you hear avalanches every few minutes. They are very noisy and you can hear them from a great distance.
DeleteSnow is so quiet and seems to absorb all but the most unique sounds. I do miss it as we have not had snow here for two years.
ReplyDeleteGood point on snow. It is so soft and silent.
DeleteNothing quite as lovely as new fallen snow!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Red - I still haven't seen enough to speak of. :)
Well, don't worry . You will get your snow.
DeleteHas WS Gandalf paid you a visit, or did he travel east of you. We are chilling after his stop here yesterday, school called off, things cancelled.
ReplyDeleteThe Gandalf missed us. We had snow on Tues the 8th and no rain.
DeleteRed these scenes are all too familiar. Not being able to see the sidewalk is the one I least like, that means shoveling!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear you made it safely to your meeting and home again, I don't know how people can drive with the blizzarding snow hitting the windshield especially on the highways.
Have a fantastic weekend!
Hey, I thought us Albertans could face any storm! I must admit that I am much more cautious these days.
DeleteThey tell us we have snow coming. Nothing like that though. That would bring this country a standstill lol
ReplyDeleteYou tend the get the wet snow which is harder to deal with. We get dry powdery snow. We also have snow for a long period of time and get used to it.
DeleteThank you for thinking of us down here.
ReplyDeleteThe heat has been terrible, the bushfires are horrific. Evacuations all over the place, it really hurts to see on the constant updates on the TV, and we haven't got to February yet, the hottest month. Rain is urgently needed.
What makes it worse, is that the fires have all been deliberately lit by uncontrollable kids and arsonists, the most most despicable of humans on this planet.
Some have already been caught, and they all will be, it will be interesting what justice is applied.
Yes, the Alberta snow does look lovely.
Colin (Brisbane. Australia)
Well, at least my heart was in the right place Colin.
DeleteI am having trouble with the Internet crashing, so I hope you don't get this twice. Anyway, the snow is so pretty! And I heard it is so hot in Australia, the climatologists have had to add new colour-coding to their weather maps! I'm happy it's winter.
ReplyDeleteI've had trouble with Chrome. I'm about ready to pitch it. You did alright...you sent three copies! It's frustrating when things don't work as they should.
DeleteVery pretty, Red. We had some a couple of weeks back but it's been mild and rainy since then. Today is very warm (15.5C.. 60F) and so not only is there no more snow, our creeks are flooding the area a bit. Nothing serious though. Back to freezing temperatures tomorrow so I'll enjoy it while I can and I'm also enjoying your lovely winter scenes. Thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had thawing since mid October. I like it when it stays frozen. Yes, it is attractive.
DeleteNew snow is almost pretty! That nature center looks like a good place to visit! :)
ReplyDeleteThe Nature center is a good place to visit. I do some volunteering there. That's why I was there the other day and got some photos.
DeleteNew snow...and lots of it! Should make for a good growing season come spring!
