Last night I knew the forecast was for snow. The wind blew from the east all night. I was up a couple of times but it wasn't snowing. When I got up this morning there was heavy snow falling. There was a strong north east wind and visibility was limited. It was one of those storms where you say, "I hope this doesn't last long!" By about 11:30 AM the snow had stopped but it left lots for me to shovel.
We are approaching spring equinox. Days are lengthening. The sun rose at 7:16 this morning and set at 6:17 tonight so it's giving us about 11 hours of sunlight. Some of you have had your last snow of the winter. I will get lots more snows. Our snow should melt by April 1 but there will be snow fall after that.
Shoveling this kept me out of trouble for a while! |
I took a quick peak around the neighborhood. |
Yes, the snow is pretty...for a while. I bet you're looking forward to warmer weather.
ReplyDeleteMany people are looking forward to warmer weather but I have to be realistic as warmer weather is not coming for a while.
DeleteI certainly am ready for spring! Don't you love the longer days? It sure lifts the spirits!
ReplyDeleteI do like the longer days. They certainly add energy.
DeleteThat would be spring snow all right!
ReplyDeleteJust high wind warning for us.
We'll get a few more before we're finished.
DeleteHmmmmmmm!
ReplyDeleteWell, as I have e-mailed, I am becoming an "up to date" person on your snow, via Banff and a weather presenter from Australia, who gives our weather reports, Channel 7 here, for the next week from the " Fairmont Chateau at Lake Louise", Banff. Ah what a life of a weather presenter. Lovely snow in Banff and seemingly plenty of skiers, I wonder how many are "Aussies"?? It is a very POPULAR place for Aussies to go to for winter holidays.
Looks like you have heaps of shovelling to do, watch out for your back - don't overdo it.
You have snow, we have RAIN! Take your pick???
Take care mate, don't over stress your back.
Bucketing down here (RAIN) again!!!!! 3.00pm Monday 4th.
Colin
The Rockies at this time o year receive a tremendous amount of snow.
DeleteI'm pretty fortunate when it comes to the back and shoveling and have very little difficulty. I stretch daily!
It's at a point in the winter when it grows old really quickly. Or maybe that's just me. I wish you lovely spring weather soon.
ReplyDeleteYou're like most people and they just want this thing to end. Winter started here in the third week of Oct. and we haven't had a break since.
DeleteI enjoy seeing your snow. I am ready for spring now though.
ReplyDeleteIt's always easier to look at the other guy's snow.We will get lots more before we're finished.
DeleteHi Red,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit! I agree that is a lot of snow. Spring comes early for us....Hopefully it will find it's way up your way soon. I saw a huge flock of birds headed back north yesterday...Surely that is a sign?......Janey
Thanks for dropping in to Hiawatha House. The migration season is long. We already have horned larks. The other birds keep coming until mid June.
DeleteO dear, so much snow again. We finally have some spring now with higher temeratures and sunshine. Your time will come a bit later, I am sure.
ReplyDeleteWe will still get lots more snow but it does start to begin thawing now.
DeleteOh it is still winter here in Ontario Canada but I am fine with that for awhile yet. It is nice that the days are getting longer. Be careful shoveling:) B
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by Hiawatha House. I stretch every day so shoveling usually isn't a problem.
DeleteHi Yah Red - Love your snow photos - Yes, I imagine that would keep you out of trouble for a while. ha,ha We had wicked storm on March 1st and its been snowing off and on since. Its like olde man winter is really trying. Days are longer, it's not dark till almost 7pm - and the flakes coming down this morning are melting as soon as they hit the ground - the temp is +4 this morning, so that is warm for March. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteYes, you had a bad one ...lots of heavy wet snow. We start to get hawing and above freezing temperatures from now on.
DeleteI love the longer days, too. It was nice to hunker down for the winter, but now that spring is on the way, I'm feeling much more cheerful! Hope that snow stops when it's supposed to, Red. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe also have more energy once there's more sunshine. I will never forget how bright things were when you were above the tree line in spring.
Deleteoh, i remember those long winters from my wisconsin days! wearing your big winter coat and snow boots over your easter dress. :)
ReplyDeleteYou bring back an old reminder. Lots of girls didn't have a coat so wore a jacket. It wasn't elegant but it was all they had.
DeleteIt is blowing and snowing here today..so far only an inch or so..but I hear more is coming. Winter will be here awhile too:)
ReplyDeleteI think you're getting the same system we had.
DeleteI keep telling myself...Spring is coming, spring is coming, spring is coming...I'm not looking at your snow...spring is coming! :)

Our winter started the third week of Oct. We haven't had a break since. So when you get spring and start writing about it I will be happier.
DeleteOur last one was heavy. I still am having fun in it, but wouldn't be too upset to see it go.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like a wide storm is going through Minnesota today . I don't know if you'll be in on it.
DeleteWe received about 3 in. new snow in the night too. No spring for us yet!
ReplyDeleteYes, when it his I thought I hope this thing doesn't last long. It stopped snowing before noon.
DeleteWe still have a lot of snow too but spring is definitely in the air. The birds are singing!
ReplyDeleteI've been cleaning up endless branches from our big, heavy snowfall. Lovely day today, though!
