This morning by the time I finished shovelling the sun was shining. It was very pleasant after four very dull days.
I went out at 1:00PM to take some pictures of a fine day and a little snow.

Love your blue shadow.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I haven't tried photos of shadows.
DeleteThe wishing well may be temporarily out of business, but this could be the best time for roaring business - people wishing for a little sunshine.
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures.
Thanks.
DeleteThat's a whole lot of snow on that feeder!
ReplyDeleteWell, I've seen it worse. It's in the sun so it melts off quickly.
DeleteOh Red, amazing snow photos! It seems I"ll have to send a little Australian summer warmth your way as well as to Scotland.
ReplyDeleteI'll catch up on the rest of your posts now :)
Well, your kind to think of sending some warm weather, but winter is a being that has to be allowed to be in control. Don't mess with winter or it can really get mad!
DeleteVery lovely photos, Red. My daughter says it just started snowing again in Chicago. Uh oh....
ReplyDeleteMy daughter took three hours to get home last night! Not for me!
DeleteYou do keep on top of the snow clearing.
ReplyDeleteWell, the Micro Manager keeps on top of the snow shovelling.
DeleteHave you ever found yourself wondering "what is the point of snow?" Now rain I can understand, we all need water, but inch upon inch of the frozen stuff is taking things a bit too far
ReplyDeleteI never wonder about the point of snow. snow is insulation so that the ground doesn't freeze 20 feet deep and become perma frost. Plants have adapted to the snow so that they survive, Sorry to be so serious about your snow question.
DeleteSun and snow is the perfect combination, makes everything look so beautiful fairy tale like and keeps you busy with cleaning.
ReplyDeleteYes, I got right out after it snowed before dirt starts flying around.
DeleteGot close to the same here. Getting sun, but it is also cold. Hope it stays, I have to go shoot a farm and family for a magazine before the 10th.
ReplyDeleteWell, that much snow in your area should stay around for a while.
DeleteThose are some awesome snow pictures! As a snow lover, I love this. I love the combination of sun and snow.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Fresh snow like this does look good and makes me feel good about life in general.
DeleteWhat a spotless driveway! You must get out there with a broom after you shovel!
ReplyDeleteThe key is to have a very particular Micro Manager who just has to have a perfect job.
DeleteIt sure is pretty. I like the sun too but -23 is getting harder to take as I age:) Great shots of pretty white. Hug B
ReplyDeleteNothing like snow in the country. You don't get the sand and dirt flying around.
DeleteHi Ya Red - Nice Sunny Post and yes, you probably have the cleanest driveway on your street. :)
ReplyDeleteWe dawned our outdoor gear yesterday and set aboot raking the roof of the house, barn and mini barn. I did the two small barns and then helped with the big roof. The snow on the back roof of the house was well above my waist. You know what - its the most interesting sound when snow comes sliding down the roof once encouraged with a snow rake. There is almost a gutterable rumble and then A MIGHTY BIG THUMP when it hits the ground. It is a sound that amazes me and captures my attention. I don't know that you have ever heard the sound of moving snow like that - perhaps you have, but its really sharpens your ears. Have a wonderful day.
I have a beter story than yours. If you are in the back country in the rockies after fresh snow you hear the big whumps all the time. Snow slides happen all around you. You have to really know where you're going or you could be part of the whump!
DeleteSomeone is super detailed about clearing off their driveway. I remember those days when I had to shovel at least twice a week and it was backbreaking. Take your time.
ReplyDeleteThe Micro Manager is very particular about getting all the snow off the driveway.
DeleteI love the way things look after a snowfall, all clean and white. And especially when the sun comes out! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou're right about white snow and brilliant sunshine. Nothing beats it.
DeleteDid I tell you? They had to chop off our wishing well to get to the pipes. I'm so sad! Happy to have water,t hough. The snowblower is frozen, I have to get my hairdryer on it.
ReplyDeleteThe sun would be welcome at this point! Mind you, out east they've had 120cm of snow. I should get going...
That's a bummer to lose your wishing well. The maritimes have really had a big whack of snow. they can have it.
Deleteit looks so pretty! but i'm glad i'm not shoveling any. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! You're not giving me much sympathy.
DeleteMy dear email friend she is suffering with the amounts of snow in N.B. I can just imagine. her home is on farm land and her basement I have not any idea if she can clear it away the snow sometimes it leaks to the basement. You did a great job. So clean and the snow is pretty and after a clean up you feel you have accomplished something.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind shovelling snow as long as we don't get too much. the Maritimes have had too much snow.
DeleteHi Red, I'm enjoying your snow pictures. You and/or the micro manager did an awesome job on the driveway. John
ReplyDeleteThanks. Snow shovelling has been a shared job recently.
DeleteShovelling snow is a dangerous job for people with circulation and heart problems. I don’t mind at all that I live in a rural environment where snow is left to melt naturally and the roads are cleared by the council.
ReplyDeleteI'm in good physical condition and snow shovelling increases my fitness. Yes, I've been in the country where there's not the fussy snow shovelling.
DeleteYou certainly do shovel a nice driveway! You are way ahead of me on snow, there is no catching up:)
ReplyDeleteThanks. the Micro Manager is very particular about the snow shovelling. You are tempting fate when you say you'll never catch up with snow. You know that we can get a huge snowfall very quickly.
DeleteNice winter shots! The snow looks so crisp and clean. Sunshine makes everything better.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Our snow tends to be fairly dry. We seldom get wet slushy snow.
DeleteWhen we get snow, it is wet and heavy, very hard to shovel. But it usually melts fast.
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to see what weather is like in different parts of our continent.
It's beautiful but I'm glad that I don't have that problem or inconvenience.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures look pretty. We haven't had a 'real' snow yet, two or three inches one time, an inch another and it was so wet it disappeared quickly. Do you have one of those snow machines that make the work easier for you. Your driveway looks clear but I was wondering that would be hard shoveling heavy snow.
ReplyDeleteYou do such an immaculate job shoveling, Red. And could your shadow possibly be any bluer? Very nice.
ReplyDeleteNice snow shots Red! Really like your "shadow shot."
