Cold Front

Yesterday was a very pleasant warm September day. I hurried to get some jobs done that didn't get done earlier. The wooden shed got cleaned. Everybody has a wooden shed! Just at the end of the shed cleaning the shop vac told me it was full so I had to replace the bag. Edging got done. It was a busy afternoon.

Listening to the forecast I realized that a cold front and showers were on the way.

It was still nice at 6:30 PM so I did my 20 km(12.5 mi) bike ride. 10 minutes from the end of the bike ride there were a few gusts of wind. By the time I got to the house the gusts were of a higher velocity with a steady wind.

Light was still good so I thought I'd get  few photos of fall colors. By the time I got out the wind was wild. The cold front was moving through the area.

So I got some photos but not exactly what I had in mind. I got shots of trees blowing in the wind. Leaves were also blowing above the trees.

By about 10:30 the front had gone through and it was calm again.

Not all shots showed the front so many were deleted.

This was a throw away shot into the sun. When I looked at it I could see the leaves whirling above the trees. Enlarge it.

Ominous cloud

Clouds building up.

Ragged scowling clouds.

  1. I have to say this yoyo weather is hard to predict and get used to. Cold here today will be heat wave by the middle of the week. Well one thing I know is that winter will be here before we know it and after last years cold I am not a fan:) B

    1. It's the typical fall when there is a turnover of the air...hot and cold.

  3. So glad you managed to stay out of the worst of the wind on your bike. I felt the cold front come through here as well, but we didn't have any wind. It's now quite a bit cooler than earlier in the weekend. :-)

    1. The worst of the wind is the dirt blowing in your eyes.

    1. Now I never thought about personality for clouds. I'll be thinking about that one.

    1. Thanks. We need to think about the days and then have more meaning as to what we do.

  10. Now that you have the shen cleaned and the edging done, sounds like it will be time to start raking leaves!
I'm already missing the 70 degree days, but 60 is good for walking, or in your case, riding.

  12. I am so happy for the cooler temps. That 90-110 temps was just too much for being out getting things done. When it gets that hot, I head to St. Andrews for a day on the Bay - not much work got done around here for approx 3 weeks. ha,ha Today and tomorrow are work days for sure with garden cleanup and beginning the storing of things for winter. I also must start my fall lineup of Halloween Characters soon. Beautiful photos of your many cloud forms - much the same mixed up weather here as well. Hullo to MM. Nice Post Sir Red :)

  13. The photos are wonderful! So much fun! I've been avoiding some chores, especially the ones that require sweat and tears. It's been too hot! I like the changes.

  14. Red, I love the photo of the "clouds building up", the golden hue looks awesome. We also have this type of weather here now, it's autumn coming definitely.

  15. You had a real nice day for your jobs Red. It was pleasantly breezy. Your pictures are beauties.

I had a nice day at my new Apt park also. Hubby and I enjoyed the breeze. Almost to the end and I gave out one big yell. Ouch. Dang it a wasp bit me. He put his stinger in me deep as he could. I got some of it out. I thought. I was up in the night with the pain and itchy. Itchy to me is infection. So lucky in my first aid kit . I had some cream. Applied . It never swelled but it is no laughing matter of pain from those critters. I guess he thought I was a big Sunflower. He was wrong.
Wasps are sneaky. They hold on to you where you least expect it.. My one sons dog got bitten last Friday.
Beside all this talking. My bottom of my back from unpacking boxes over time I guess. Lets me look like Hunch Back Of Dodder-dame. I don't recognize myself.

  16. Red good idea to get things done before it gets any cooler out there. The winds on Saturday also picked up here, so much so I took down my hanging plant in fear it may blow off it's hook.

That's awesome you got out riding your bike, that's quite the trek 20 kms but good for you for doing this!

Awesome photos, very nice crisp shots! Wishing you a wonderful week!
