My followers widget is acting up. When I click on someone who is following me the screen breaks up and I cannot get to the person's blog. I've renewed the widget and that doesn't help. I've tried blogger and this is the first time they let me down. They didn't email a solution and I couldn't find the answer on their convoluted chat line. Has anybody else had this problem?
Now here's where it gets murky for me. I'm not sure if the followers widget has anything to do with people being able to follow me??? People have reported that they can not follow me. So what causes that one? I suspect they are related. I also suspect that the solution is simple.
Any ideas?
I am already following you. I found me and can get to my blog from following. It seems to work fine for me. I will try someone else and see what happens.

DeleteI use The Old Reader to follow people, and that is how I follow you, Red. You show up in my feed when you post something. I know some people use the Blogger reading list. I just went over there and your blog is on top. I can't help you, since I don't have the same problem. Anybody? :-)

Deletei follow you through feedly - a feed reader like djan uses. yes, adrian has a good point. if you're using internet explorer, lots of things on blogger don't like to work well. try using google chrome to see if that resolves the issue. i switched to google chrome years back since it plays well with blogger and all things google-related.

DeleteYes I too have had that problem for some time. I think it started in the Spring of 2015. I didn't try to fix it. I thought I read that Blogger was doing away with this widget but am not sure where I read that. People can follow you any number of ways. They do not need to add themselves to the follower widget. All that happens when they do that is your blog shows up in their blogger pages whenever you have a new post (not right away but a day or a few days later). Even though the widget may not be working properly, your blog post will still show up. At least all the blogs I'm following show up in mine (on blogger). They could also choose to add you to their reading list using any number of other readers e.g. Bloglovin'. Or if you offer an email subscription (another widget) they can follow you that way. Maybe you also post your newest posts on Google+ which many do these days and they will follow you that way too.

ReplyDeleteAbout the widget.Iam experiencing the same problem.Ican not go to some of my followers blog.I dont now why.Maybe its on purpose?Many of my followers dont let me go to their blogs but they can watch mine!!Unfear!!a sily thing!i dont think it has anything to do with Internet og Google Crome.sometimesI find them when I google them and then they got this google page(I dont know about too handle that page)
So I just let it go!

DeletePeople can also follow you by an email subscription. I'm already following you through the Follower widget. I haven't tried anything like that in recent days, but since the beginning of the month have had issues with having to identify photo captchas to post any comment. It's not constant, but when it starts, it'll be there for the rest of the time I'm online. It's not needed, because spam filters catch almost every spam comment, and all this does is annoy readers. It's particularly annoying when you've correctly identified the pics and then are told by the system that you're wrong. There were a few times last evening I had to go through over ten of these.

DeleteYou continue to show up on my blogroll but maybe that's because I've been following you for a while now. When I created my new site I wanted to add the blogger "Follow" widget, but Blogger no longer allows people to use it unless it's on a blogger site.

DeleteI know what you are talking about...mine has been doing the same thing. I had to switch to a different browser (instead of Chrome) to even see the follower widget. I also could not upload any photos in Chrome. Until today...now the widget works and I can upload. I calling it a Chrome problem.

ReplyDeleteHi Red, It sounds like you are on the right track with it being a blogger issue. I do have the same thing here. I first noticed it a couple of months ago when I clicked on one of the profile pics for a follower I hadn't heard from in a while and, after clicking, nothing happened except the widget was kind of blanked out. I would like to see this get fixed. Hope you have some good luck with this. By the way, I also use Chrome.

ReplyDeleteI just did mine over. Then it all appeared. My problem is. I have been on google + and I am not on it. I went off. Yet I cannot get my old blog off the side bar . If people click. It says I am not on. Something of that sort. Do you have trouble with mine . I know you comment but do you have to push Imagination to get to my blog ? Some people still cannot get to me. So that is frustrating. I don't know what to do. People tell me to go take my self off my old side bar. It does not work and you cannot reach anyone. It is like a recording. Not valid.
