We had a hot and cloudy afternoon. It was one of those afternoons where it looked like a good thunderstorm could happen any minute.
Around 6:30 PM a thunder cell formed and grew rapidly. It disappeared just as rapidly an hour later without one drop of rain.
When I see the cloud build up I think of the tremendous energy that it takes to build the cloud and pile it up. I also like the beauty and movement as things build up.
You really need a horizon to show off a cloud. My neighbor's trailer isn't a pretty horizon.
Clouds are beautiful. Forever changing and taken for granted by most of my fellow human beings. It is good to look up in the sky and see what's there.
ReplyDeleteMost of our fellow human beings miss most of the natural happenings around them.
DeleteI like it to look up. You had a very special cloud there, have never seen such one before. Here we always have clouds in the air and I like imagine seeing all kind of different items in them. A blue sky without clouds we see seldom here.
ReplyDeleteWe have cummulos clouds tha build into thunder cells. Yes there are interesting shapes to see in cloud formations.
Deletebeautiful thunderhead!
ReplyDeleteThanks
Deletebeautiful pics such afternoons really bring thunderstorms sometime here too
ReplyDeleteHot afternoons bring these clouds and if the air is moist you can get a thunder shower.
DeleteI feel the same, Red. Clouds and their incredible energy fascinate me. I think your pictures turned out great. :-)
ReplyDeleteA skydiver will have a basic understanding of clouds and weather.

DeleteI too love the beauty of the fluffy white clouds.I like to call them that.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful Red. Thank you for sharing.
The fluffy white clouds are called fair weather clouds. You fly over then and it'sbumby.
DeleteBeautiful clouds, Red! I always loved the beach as horizon to show off a cloud.
ReplyDeleteIf you live in the city the horizon is spoiled by buildings.
DeleteOh I love cloud watching - especially the towering thunderheads! Sadly I don't see much of this anymore now that I live in Western Oregon.
ReplyDeleteYes, I guess not many thunderheads in western Oregon. You send that moisture over the hills an a low pressure system. It's when we get most of our rainfall in Alberta.
DeleteI've always thought Florida has the best clouds on the planet...but these are worthy competitors!
ReplyDeleteFlorida does have great clouds off the coast.
DeleteI can't say I noticed clouds much in Texas unless a storm was approaching. When I moved to the Pacific Northwest I began to notice clouds. They're so beautiful here against the bluest of shies, and the brightest of rainbows.
ReplyDeleteYes, there are many different types of clouds and they can forecast the weather.
DeleteA magnificent thunderhead. I love painting firmly sculptured clouds like these.
ReplyDeleteAha! Firmly sculptured cloud. That's a new one for me.
DeleteSome massive clouds there, Red. Here we just have the occasional wisp of a cloud in an otherwise blue sky.
ReplyDeleteWe can get great thunder cells build up in the afternoon and evening.
DeleteI really enjoy a good summer storm, watching the clouds. Shame your lovely clouds didn't bring you any rain but maybe you didn't need any, so it could have been a good thing. Great looking clouds either way.
ReplyDeleteWe don't need any rain but we got a very heavy shower this evening.
DeleteI also love to look at clouds. Yours are really powerful looking. Great photos Red!
ReplyDeleteI like a little more back light on them and then you see a brilliant shiny white.
DeleteThose clouds are incredible! You've captured them beautifully.
ReplyDeleteHello! I love your cloud pictures. Made me chuckle about your neighbor's trailer. Trouble is, I don't always notice until AFTER I am looking at my shots!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy watching the clouds build.Out on the plains one can see storms go right around you.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful photos, Keith! We have the same, smaller clouds, dark, but no rain. It's so disheartening.
ReplyDeleteHiya Red, I like watching clouds too. I wish I could see the horizon from our house, but alas too many trees:(
ReplyDeleteThose are some very dramatic clouds. Nice shots.
ReplyDeleteI like the huge thunderhead clouds too, but don't like what generally follows them. You have a skyline like I do...I have to raise my line of sight up quite a bit to not capture my kid's yard or anything else.
ReplyDeletethose are impressive!
ReplyDeleteGreat cloud pictures! Clouds don't seem to get enough credit. All folks around here talk about is sunshine. Maybe that's because we have plently of clouds? :-) Thanks for the post and photos!
