That's what happened to me today. I told you about my 150 species count. As usual , I get a good idea but I don't think it through to the end. I knew I wanted to set up a list that would show all birds spotted, the spotter, location and date.
Now some people would say that's easy and I'm sure it is. They would say set up one of those little boxy squary things and away you go. I've never learned how to use that handy dandy program.
So I tried about 4 or 5 things and found out they wouldn't work. Put the list on my word processor and transfer to face book. It doesn't work. I wanted to pin the list to the face book page so that it was obvious and people could see the additions. The face book page is too narrow.
Finally, during supper, I said I'll bet the blog would work. So I've worked another hour and yes, the blog does work.
You won't see it on this blog but on Natural Wise.
So now I feel much more relaxed and when I get all the reported birds typed in I will be happy.
So go over to Natural Wise and have a look at the list.
Do you ever get a problem that is so difficult that your head hurts?
Technology can do that in so many ways. I am glad you got resolution.
ReplyDeleteIf you're technology challenged like me it's easy to have problems.
DeleteI think there is a program for everything. The trick is knowing what they are an how they work.
ReplyDeleteBut you found a way within your experience.
I should think of looking for a program instead of trying to make something up on my own. Of course , I could always ask my kids.
DeleteOh that is some work you took on your shoulders! I can imagine your feelings, but great you managed in the end.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm not very skilled with computers.
DeleteHa! Computery things are ESPECIALLY good at causing head pain!
ReplyDeleteI thought librarians and news reporters were super with computers!
DeleteYou should have phoned your daughter. I am sure that she would have been able to create the recording facility you needed quite quickly. Why agonise over something when your daughter could have helped?
ReplyDeleteMy son is the expert. He's worked in high tech all his life.
DeleteWell don't be so bashful then! Ask him next time. You used to help him out a lot when he was a boy, now it's his turn to help you in your dotage. What goes around comes around.
DeleteAgree..sitting with the computer sometimes give me a headache and noo sleep!Love that geese you are shoing on th pix :)))
ReplyDeleteAnita
The photo is from last fall. we do have geese now but only where there's no ice on the river.
DeleteYes, it happens to me often. I'm so glad you figured out how to make it work, Red. :-)
ReplyDeleteProblems like these are just made for seniors to keep our thinking skills in good condition.
DeleteHave you seen forms used by other bird sites? I am sure you have. A nice collection of species. I took a few youngsters out yesterday, laughing at their antics with the binoculars I had given them
ReplyDeleteI will have to look at other sites instead of doing all the work.
DeleteI have had situations where a dilemma has resulted in that happening to me.
ReplyDeleteI was also in a hurry so that adds to the stress.
DeleteMany times, and it's usually technology related.
ReplyDeleteNo, that's not true. I gave up trying Sudoku because it makes me that way. Literally makes my head hurt.
I love sudoku, but sometimes it does get to me.
DeleteI cannot imagine how difficult that would be. I try not to start volunteer projects that hurt that much!
ReplyDeleteWell, I learned a few things and I've certainly met some new people.
DeleteMost problems make my head hurt.
ReplyDeletetypical art teacher reply. I mean that as a compliment. I liked teaching with our art teachers.
DeleteI used to use a program to keep track of inventory, I used to have my son in law set it up for me because I could never get it right...all those boxes gave me a headache too. I enjoyed seeing your list! :)
ReplyDeleteI did go to Natural Wise and enjoyed seeing it all. Anything to do with charts and computers is over my head, so I just accept it and move on. It would be nice to know more about these things though. I'm just very glad to know enough to keep a blog going. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, and it's usually related to computers.
ReplyDeleteNext time ask your son. You helped him all your life.
ReplyDeleteMy headache got the worse of me too.
My hubby gets these ideas when it comes to getting mail out for Birthdays to far away places for our family. I cannot travel till I get this knee done in May. So any how. He comes to me. Can you address Birthday card for Derek our one Grandson. He said the post lady is down stairs putting in the mail in the tenants slots. So she will be ready and I can give her the card if you get it ready. I said okay. Do you think I can find the card for him..
I had the envelope but the card was separate. Then I find it. Then comes the address. So I get the street his name on it. Then all of a sudden I go totally blank. I said what is the last name. Hubby said you have to be kidding. My hubby tells me. Then comes writing in the card. I did it. I looked and It was chicken scratch or should I say it looked like a two year old wrote it. Was I am ebarrased. You bet.
So he runs down to the post lady and she just drove away. He comes up. Too late. I said I will do it all again. To-morrow. He said it has a stamp and it is sealed.
So the story of this. I wrote a email to my daughter. You want a laugh your Mom thinks she is 2 years old yesterday and besides that. I forgot your last name. Did I have a Headache. I sure did. I can do anything but under pressure like that. I had my childhood of 2. Could I have asked my kids. They would of thought I was for sure going senile and what could they do. I am the one who was sending the Birthday card.
I'm glad you found something that works for you. I'm sure all of us have been in a similar situation! I know I have.
ReplyDeleteHi Red, I did go over and take a look at Natural Wise. Nice work setting that up! It looks like it will be easy to add dates, names, etc. And, yes, I have had problems that make my head hurt. Fortunately, none recently! :-) More so back when I was in the classroom. :-)
