As if spring wasn't late enough here , we got 12 - 13 cm ( 5 in ) of snow last night and today. To go with the snow we have cool temperatures for this Time of year. We had a high of minus 5 C (23 F) The forecast low for tonight is minus 21 C. So usually I'm patient about seasons , but this is a little much.
Some years the snow has melted and my lilies behind the back step and the blue bells are up. I've checked this year and there's nothing.
One thing I do know is that the season will advance very quickly when the snow melts as we have long days and our plants do well with the long days. However, there are no above 0 C highs predicted for the next 7 days.
So my photos are very dull to show the cloudy snowy day we have.
You and Connie at Far Side remind us that not everyone gets to experience Spring at Easter time.
ReplyDeleteMost of the time our snow is gone by Mar 31
DeleteWinter simply does not want to leave us this year it seems. I think many of us are longing to see sunshine, flowers and greenery. Even here in Missouri we are expecting snow for Easter but hopefully little to no accumulation.
ReplyDeleteThat's extreme for you guys to have snow in late March!
DeleteI sure don't mess the snow.
ReplyDeleteRight now I could miss the snow.
DeleteHopefully winter will die soon
ReplyDeleteSpring will come very rapidly when it gets underway.
DeleteWinter takes a long time this year, here too.
ReplyDeleteYes, half the time our snow is gone by Mar 31.
DeletePlease petition the city council to change the name of your city to Lapland. This would attract many more visitors and you could become the official Santa Claus. The Micro Manager could dress up as your elf assistant.
ReplyDeleteNow that yo mention it I would love to visit Lapland...the real Lapland.
DeleteGood grief! You are still in the middle of winter, it seems. I hope it warms up soon up there in your neck of the woods. :-)
ReplyDeleteToday was like February..high minus 8 C.
DeleteHi Red, Winter is definitely holding on! Here in Seattle we had a couple of warmer, sunny days that were just teasers. Now we are back in the mid 40s (about 7C) with showers. Enjoyed your pictures here. Hope you get some warm days soon to melt the snow and get the flowers on their way. Hope you and the Micro Manager have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhen warm weather comes things will clear up quickly.
DeleteIt's taking a long time for spring to show up. Next week for us is not looking any better. Rain and sleet :(
ReplyDeleteSame here...next week our highs are all below 0 C.
DeleteIt's still my favourite kind of weather!
ReplyDeleteWe had some rain earlier in the week that put a dent in the snowpack, but I suspect we're not done with snow yet.
Happy Easter!
You would be happy here with this snow.
DeleteWe had some in the night!
DeleteEven though the snow is just the same in March as November, it feels different!! Hopefully it will melt quickly. Have a chocolate bunny while you're waiting :)
ReplyDeleteThere are no above 0 C highs for the next week so I'll just have to wait.
DeleteAnd to think, I've complained about the cold and snow lately. It looks like January there! Hope it warms up soon. Oh Red, I just saw your post showing your bruised leg. No wonder it was sore to touch. Hope it gets well soon. I've fallen three times in the last six months, and have been lucky not to have broken a bone. Guess at this age we need to be very careful, but I forget. :)
ReplyDeleteTemperature is all relative. We are used to these temperatures. Bruises take their sweet time to disappear particularly if you're old.
DeleteThat's a lot of snow! Hopefully it melts soon and spring rolls in.
ReplyDeleteThe snow melt will be rapid at this late part of spring.
DeleteLooks familiar...we are cold too. Happy Easter Red! :)
ReplyDeleteI find it funny that your snow stick is still getting deeper.
DeleteI am once again reminded that I cannot complain about snow and cold in my corner of the world! A HIGH of 23º F in April?! That's INSANE!
ReplyDelete(Oh, and I laughed at your question on my blog about whether it ever dries out here. The answer, basically, is no.)
