I've been driving by this mural for a few you. Of course , I say to myself ,"I want to stop here someday."
Well, early Tuesday morning was the day. The Micro Manager had a lab appointment nearby so I took the camera and went for a walk.
The mural is large. You can see how far back I had to be to get the whole mural. However, when I zoomed in on some of the faces they were spectacular.
I don't know what the mural was about so I've just given myself some homework.
What an interesting post! That is a beautiful mural and I would think it was done to celebrate people or maybe diversity? The last picture you show has "Family Services" on it so possibly that organization commissioned it. It does make me wonder the story behind it. Maybe an art class did the work? Okay Red, now you have my curiosity up. Be sure and fill us in on the results of your homework!
ReplyDeleteNow I'm bound to making another post!
DeleteLovely mural. I love public art.
ReplyDeleteThere are some very skilled artist who do murals.
DeleteI love murals! They really brighten a cityscape!
ReplyDeleteThis one is in an open area so shows off well.
DeleteIt's a really fine mural, well done and planned out. I look forward to hearing what you find out about it, Red. :-)
ReplyDeleteThere are a few more in town of the same style so I'll have to take a look at them too.
DeleteI went on The City of Red Deer website and flicked through the public art section but could find no reference to this eye-catching mural.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to that site. So guess what? I'm going to take a look. I know the city has a lit of most things.
DeleteA good mural definitely livens things up. It looks like it's painted on the "Family Services of Central Alberta" building, so my guess is it's just various aspects of family life, as depicted by an artist hired by that organization.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you're right Steve. Your suggestion tells me where to go.
DeleteIt's beautifully done!
ReplyDeleteI agree.
DeleteA nice find and share!!!
ReplyDeletethere are a few more in town that I will have to track down.
DeleteWow, that is pretty amazing! Whoever did that is quite talented.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's very sharp in detail and shows off well.
DeleteWhen you find out about it, I'm sure you will share it with us?
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same as Steve. Let us know if you find out who did it!
ReplyDeleteI should be able to come up with a back ground on this mural.
DeleteHello, what a beautiful mural. The artist is very talented. ENjoy your day and weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhoever the artist was they captured some smiling eyes, I hope to hear more about the people in the mural especially that sweet child in the red jacket:)
ReplyDeleteVery interesting. Neat post!
ReplyDeleteThis mural makes me smile. I do love looking at the creativity of artists.
