PAT BOONE

This week I noticed that Pat Boone's wife died. I hadn't heard anything about Pat Boone for years. That sent me running to the LPs to find my Pat Boone album. I couldn't find it so I guess the LP disappeared some where along my travels.  That sent me to You Tube to find some of his songs and listen to them again. I found out that I like them just as much now as I did then.

Pat Boone was one of my favorites. His music was light, bouncy and upbeat. Pat came after Elvis and many other Rockers. It took me a long time to warm up to Elvis. It took me a long time to warm up to the Beatles. I listened to all the old time rockers . I liked Buddy Holly much more than Elvis. I listened to all the teen age rocker sensations. I would still listen to Pat Boone.

Pat Boone borrowed many songs and made hits out of them. Some of the more well known songs were "Ain't that a shame", "Long Tall Sally" and "Tutti Frutti".

After all these performers, I still liked Pat Boone. When I went over his biography, I realized he had many more hits than I remember.

Although I like Boone's music, I do not like his politics. Boone was much too far to right wing causes .

So the event of the death of Pat Boone's wife brought me back to many old memories.

Now I wonder how many of my readers will say, "Pat Boone?" Who was he? I'm not sure how well known Pat Was in Europe but I'm about to find out.

  4. ...I had not heard about Pat Boone's wife, Boone was 'Mr. Smooth.' Elvis and the Beatles were never favorites of mine, perhaps it was because of all the girls screaming. I think that YouTube is the greatest.

  8. I remember him. I don't think we ever bought an album of his though. I was young and my parents loved show music. Then came The Beatles!

  11. If I'd only ever heard Pat Boone's singing I think I'd have liked him, too. But I've heard way too much about his politics and that has permanently soured him for me. I didn't hear about his wife -- that's too bad.

  13. I heard about his wife dying. I actually thought he was dead too so I looked him up and sure enough he is still alive and well. My mother had some of his music but I was not a fan of his. I did like the Beatles and still do.

  16. I like him too and his music. Everyone is entitled to their own political opinion...he doesn't go with the Hollywood flow and I like that! :)

  19. Well, i am one who recognizes Pat Boone. I wasn’t a fan of his music though, maybe because i was a little young when he was popular and he wasn’t someone my parents enjoyed, probably because of his politics.

  21. I remember Pat Boone quite well and one of his hits was (I believe) April Love. I also saw him in the film State Fair. He wasn't one of my favorite singers, but I did enjoy some of his songs and remember that he wore white buck shoes.

  23. Yes. We knew about Pat Boone over here in Europe. He was reasonably popular though of course this was all long before my time as at 65 I am just a young lad. I'm into hip-hop, rap and garage music.
