November can give us some very nice sunsets. The sun is lower in the sky and there's more time between sunset and dark. These photos were taken just before 5:00 PM.
The white line across the center of the above photo is the top of some one's fence.
There's a bit of snow on the mountain ash berries .
Winter skies can be colorful.
When I lived in the Arctic and the sun didn't rise above the horizon for six weeks we had many colorful skies. We had light from around 11:00 AM to 2:00 Pm. It was like a three hour sunset.
It's just about the same here.
ReplyDeleteIt's a dismal part of the year.
Delete...three hours of sunlight just doesn't seem to be enough!
ReplyDeleteThe sun didn't come above the horizon. We just had a glow like sun rise or sunset.
DeleteIt looks really cold at your place, we only have rains so far. I prefer cold dry weather in winter and not all that wetness around.
ReplyDeleteIt's cold compared to your place but you're right you can see that it's cold from the photos.
DeleteI cannot imagine living with twenty-four hours of darkness. I am not even fond of the short winter days here in southern Ontario.
ReplyDeleteI didn't mind the no sunlight but some people did not do well with out seeing the sun.
DeleteHello, lovely captures of the sunset and sky. Enjoy your day and happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI looked at that sky for quite a while.
DeleteI guess it gets very cold up there in the Arctic at this time of year. Good job you had Nurse Micro Manager to keep you warm.
ReplyDeleteYou bet!
DeleteNice, Red. I like the mountain ash with some snow on it.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's better than that and looks like Christmas decorations.
DeleteI am just struck by the intense feeling of cold in these shots.
ReplyDeleteYou're right. It's a cold sky.
DeleteI love seeing the skies there. And, I love your description of the three hours of light you would see in the Arctic. It must have been quite beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt was beautiful I didn't know what I was in for during my first year there.
DeleteYour photos are beautiful! I can't imagine what it must have been like when you lived in the Artic!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I had a very good time. I was single, young and adventurous.
DeleteYour photos look rather chilly. I remember livinng in Fairbanks and the sun rose around 11am in the winter and sunset was around 2pm. Short days and cold but we liked it.
ReplyDeletePeople who have not experienced the Arctic will never really know what it was like .
DeleteLooks cold to me! Yes the days are shorter for the next couple of weeks...then it is on the upswing with daylight a minute a day.:)
ReplyDeleteWe were in a bit of a cold snap when I took these.
DeleteThat would be strange to have a lingering sun but really never showing up or down.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't really strange. It happens gradually and you get used to it.
DeleteLovely views!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing I happened to be looking out the window.
DeleteThis is truth.
ReplyDeleteYou bet!
DeleteHi Red, These are some neat pictures. Can't imagine what it was like in the Artic. We are getting near the shortest day of the year. You might like this website with Red Deer sun times ... https://www.timeanddate.com/sun/canada/red-deer
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend!
You're right , you can't imagine it until you live through it and then you will never forget.
DeleteI like the trio of trees silhouetted against the clear cold sky.
ReplyDeleteAlphie
Yes it does look cold and it was cold.
ReplyDeleteNice views! This time of year does have its unique beauty, although my favourite season is spring.
ReplyDeleteNo snow yet. Not even bitterly cold. We were able to get some lights up on the deck even.
ReplyDeleteThe snow on the red berries of the mountain ash remind me of a Christmas card!
ReplyDeletegorgeous sunset dear Red !
ReplyDeletebeautifully captured :)
sunset glow behind snowy branches was truly magical !
i want to see these enchanting pool lights too ,saw only on t.v
Beautifully atmospheric photos.
ReplyDeleteLovely silhouettes of the trees with dramatic skies behind. We watched a beautiful sunset from my hospital window last night.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I’m in Maryland right now visiting with my son’s family. After that we’ll head to Illinois before returning home. My brother is staying with my mother now which is great. I haven’t been able to blog since leaving Hawaii, but I scheduled posts ahead of time. Out here in Maryland, I’m not able to capture the beautiful sunsets. It also gets dark so early! I’ve forgotten what that’s like.
