MY EXPLANATION.

My last two posts were a disaster.  As hard as I tried I couldn't get the font or size of print I wanted. I couldn't indent paragraphs. I thought I couldn't get photos but then I found them.

I knew something was wrong but not what or how to correct it. There were red , green and blue words. there was code between the words.  I tried everything and searched as hard as I could search.

So go to young people for a solution. I checked with my kids. They couldn't come up with anything. They're not kids any more...48 and 50. They're too old to help me.

My daughter did give me one hint that it sounded like html.

So I looked to see where I may have accidentally clicked on a html icon. I accidentally found it. It's in the upper left hand corner of the blog. There is compose and html. I had accidentally clicked on html. So I clicked on compose and I was back in business.

I did much cussing and search to find a solution. I won't forget that for a while.

So my apologies for some very poor posts.

So there it is. The pencil stands for compose and the triangle is html

  1. Thank you for sharing this with us as it is a mistake any of us could easily make! I can imagine how frustrated you must have been with it doing all that crazy stuff. I think your last two posts were fine. We are all having trouble adjusting to this new blog format!

    1. I have not had any problems with the new format. The first few times I used it I had to fumble around but after that it's okay.

  2. A tip. In the Compose mode, where we should be, there is an option to clear formatting. It is on the far right of the toolbar. It is a T with a slash through it. Select the offending text (say it's red and italicized and you just want plain) and click that icon. In fact, I think I recall that selecting and hitting CTRL+Spacebar will do the same,

  3. Hello,
I was having trouble with the font size even with the compose icon. I did not have trouble reading your post. Take care, enjoy your weekend!

    1. I like to use large print as it makes it easier for those with poor eyesight.

  4. It doesn't even say HTML next to the pencil so it makes it pretty hard to find what your options are when they aren't immediately visible!
The old blogger had HTML listed as such

  5. I hear you. I've been flipping back and forth between new and old, depending upon what I am doing. They've redesigned blogger to be snappier on smart phones, which drives me mad. I don't use my phone for blogging.

    1. If some one was always available we'd learn so much more. So when I sit here by myself it takes time to discover something.

  7. The pencil means Compose view and the triangle means there are more options on a drop-down menu, in this case just one option, HTML. On my New Post page, I don't have the pencil. I have a left bracket and right bracket that represent HTML view and the triangle that gives me access to the pencil (Compose view).

New Blogger may be the death of us all.

Your daughter is a smartie, just like mine! She taught me how to reset my modem when we lose WiFi.
