AGES AND STAGES

I got thinking today about comparisons of my Grandpa, my Dad and myself. I was thinking that since I'm somehow in my eighties I could show Grandpa , Dad and me all in our eighties. I couldn't or don't know how to  get similar photos of each.

To start off I was the first grandson so here I am in Grandpa's arms...his first grandson.

Here's Grandpa in his early eighties.

Here's Dad when we were celebrating his eightieth birthday. Dad's on the left by the way! Now two of his sons are in their eighties.

And last , here's old Red when he's celebrating birthday number 81.

It was hard for me to get my head around the fact that we could be all compared in our eighties.  Grandpa was born in 1864, Dad 1912 and me 1939. That's 75 years apart.

  1. What an interesting post to compare the three of you at the same age range! In the first picture I think your Dad and Grandfather look a lot alike. You all three look really good to be in your 80's!

  2. Wow! Red the photos are really something. I like them a lot. Your dad sure looked strong and healthy at the age of 80 and he looks more like in his 50s. Those are good strong genes you have in you. A very happy 81 to you. I hope I am doing just as well as you are when I reach 81. Have a wonderful rest of your week too.

  5. People in their eighties now look much younger than the former ones. Better lives with no hard works, better food, better housing it all makes us older and healtier. But the good genes of a family will help a lot too. My fathers family were also in their eighties.

    1. Those are great photos and wonderful the longevity you have in your family. You do not look at all alike. I understand , I think, your reference to the passage of time as compared to where we were and where we are now . At 56 I have had a couple of these "wow" moments in my life already.

  14. You have great genes, Red. My dad was born in 1905 and I was the first born too. He got married when he was 44 and I was born 3 years later in 52. Great old pictures, always nice to look back.

  17. Congratulations on reaching 81 years of life! I will turn 80 in about four months. We can no longer think of ourselves as young. Well, we can, but we would be mistaken.

  23. thank you for sharing these heartwarming images dear Red !

how fortunate to be able to compare with your grandpa and father :)

since people of modern era have more awareness about health and life they look younger than former ones ,i think positive approach plays really important roll in this ,toady people know well how to uplift their days with appropriate hobbies ,old people were more serious and sensitive with their responsibilities and less though about having fun or feeling light
