ANXIETY

Ordinarily I'm a very low key, mellow fellow. I don't worry.

The mellow fellow about 30 years ago.

However, this week it was very different. I suffered some anxiety and worry.

Apparently my sister-in-law put on Face book that she had moved to the next town. Now the only reason I can see for moving to the next town is that there is a nursing home. Some of her friends were offering hugs and all kinds of support. So that really got me worried about what was going on. Had a sudden change in health put her in the nursing home?

I email my brother every couple of weeks and he replies that everybody is OK. The last email I sent was not answered. Can you see more anxiety. I didn't want so say anything stupid so I emailed my nephew who always answers very promptly...usually in a few minutes. He didn't answer me right away so the anxiety was building.

    What do I do now?

Fortunately, my nephew replied the next day.  His Mom and Dad had got a new computer. When they were trying to set it up, it would not accept the name of their little village . However, it would accept the next town which is much bigger . So that's where the quip came from that , "I have moved to L." The computer address will be L.

I still haven't emailed them and they haven't emailed me. However , they do read my blog and will find out the unplanned trick they played on me.

Now what can I do to get back at them?

  1. My sister and brother-in-law have lived in the same town for over 40 years. Suddenly they got notice that their mailing address had changed from one town to another. Just like that. They didn't like that. They are very rooted souls.

  4. I'm not sure how our brothers from the north connect their computers to the internet. Down here in the south, computers aren't tied to village names in any shape or form.

  5. Hello,

I hope all is well with your family. MY computer comes up saying I live somewhere else too. It is weird. Take care, have a great day!

    1. I've never noticed my computer telling me anything about where I live.

  6. Thirty years ago the mellow fellow wore yellow!

My computer seems to think I live about 50 miles east of where I actually do. I blame the cell relay towers for the predicament, although no one cares but me.

    1. I think it probably has to do with servers.

  7. I can see how that would provoke some anxiety. When you think of a trick to play on them, I hope you'll write about it here. Glad all is okay for them!

    1. I probably won't pull anything on them. They're about as low key as I am.

  8. Hi Red, This one does sound a little bit tricky. I kind of like what William Kendall said above. :-) This is another one of those unusual things that maybe we can blame on the pandemic? Wishing you an anxiety-free day!

    1. I'm pretty low key and don't worry How could I have survived 38 years of teaching middle school if I worried?

  9. I saw a quote that I am paraphrasing here:
"Anxiety Man - able to jump to the worst conclusion in a single bound"!!
Here's another one from Erma Bombeck: "Worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but doesn't get you anywhere."
Glad it all turned out okay! :)

  10. That situation would have worried me too! I have had similar things happen in my family and I really get stressed out until I know everyone is okay!

  11. It's interesting. My brother is on Facebook. I haven't had a message in ages. He lives on Vancouver Isl, working in northern Ontario. I have seen him in 10 years!

  12. Facebook is tricky that way. A minor change can produce an inadvertent message that you've moved or (God forbid) gotten a divorce or whatever!

    1. Yes, I didn't really know what to do for a while. I have a tendency to wait and most things sort themselves out.

  16. Sorry about the anxious moments. I don't like it when people talk/write in riddles. Be direct please.

  20. Oh you had me there! You Red are a good storyteller! Thanks for coming over for a visit. I have been terrible about posting...and visiting other blogs. We have been locked up so long and now that we are not...Not sure what I did before! Maybe I could go through the grocery store photographing jerks who won’t wear a mask...but I am not the brave...and could run into a Karen. Hope you are having a good week. Stay well...Janey
Still pondering a clever revenge for you.
