MERYY CHRISTMAS

Our city hall park has been lit up very nicely this year so I went out for some photos. Some photos are a little out of focus and some I was probably shivering from the minus 7 cold. You've got to use bare hands with the camera.

Many people were out enjoying the decorations.

    1. I should have done more preparation for these photos.

  2. Those are lovely. Thank you for the tour. I like seeing Christmas lights although I worry about the electricity they take and the effect on the environment. But my worries aren't going to stop anyone else from putting them up, so I try to just appreciate them.

  3. Your city did a wonderful job of the Christmas lights. Merry Christmas to you in case I don't get a chance to wish you the greetings of the season before the big day! All the best to you and the micro manager in the rest of 2021 and in the coming year.

  4. What a nice display! Your little town goes all out. I like that. Here, we'd be arguing about the displays...about what's appropriate, what's not.

    1. we don't have similar arguments here. the parks department designs the patterns.

    2. We had a Christmas parade. As per usual, the warring political sides got involved to present their particular perspectives. I angered a local democrats when I said that Christmas was for kids. The parade should be a politic-free zone. 'All they did was hand out packets of hot chocolate with candy canes', they said. If they had simply done that without the signs, there would not have been the response from the other side. Christmas needs to be for the kids. Just once, set our politics aside. Like Red Deer, maybe.

    1. The tree has rotating lights and I should have waited for the cycle when all lights are on at the same time.

  8. London? New York? Paris? Rio de Janeiro?...None of these. The best place to be at Christmas is Red Deer, Alberta! Beautiful lights indicating admirable civic pride.

P.S. Was the error in the blogpost title intentional? MERYY? I guess it was a typo.

  9. You did a fine job. I have photo gloves which I shall wear shortly to JJ's hockey game this morning. The thumb and index finger pull down but leave the rest covered. Those finger tips can still get cold, but they can be covered again.

  10. Wow, the town goes all out. There may be few years left where we can burn that much electricity...unless everything is solar. It is lovely.

  14. I was thinking your town really goes all out for mid October but then I realized that you were north of the border where dates are in a different order.

    1. My dates are the same as yours unless you're talking about thanksgiving.

    2. I was just referring to the dates on your photos where the day is listed before the month where down here we reverse that order.

Generally though, it's all so pretty and festive. I'm glad you got out there and snapped it all

  21. Excellent photos considering the cold. The type of gloves used by fishermen which have "flip-top" ends on the thumb and forefinger work well for photography.
