THE PLANS FELL APART

For some time I have had it in my head to do and oral post. Yes, I would sit there and talk to you instead of writing a post.

So with my limited computer and blogger knowledge, I started to look around and see how it could be done. Spoiler alert: I didn't look on You Tube.

I found on windows 10 how to make a video. I also found how to move it to blogger. I am bragging! In my test I had 12 seconds of video. It took forever to load it on blogger. So thought if I talk for 5 minutes It will take the rest of the winter to load it to blogger.

So I have a got to learn about condensing files or some other process.

    That just wouldn't work.

Now I know there must be a few ways to do this project so I'll have to keep working at it.

Who knows? Maybe someday I can make an oral post.

  1. You're always working on something new! PS: Your book recommendation is now in the hands of my brother-in-law, who is enjoying it very much.

  3. You can do it. If I can upload video from my camera to YouTube and then to Blogger, anyone can do it. Good luck.

P.S. Someone who was computer savvy helped me the first time. I’ve done it ever since.

  4. Good luck Red! Have you got a digital camera? Most modern digital cameras have a "movie" facility. You could just speak to camera and then you would not only have an oral post but we would be able to see you as well!

    1. Well, maybe someday it will happen. I hope someone else tries it and then I'll fallow what they do.

  7. How comforting Red to read of somebody else who if they don't perform a move every day forgets how to do it and has to start from scratch again.

  9. Make a video, save it on a memory stick and wait until you are someplace with faster internet to upload it would be my advice. Back in the days of slow dial up service, I recall starting tasks like this late at night and then going to bed hoping that all would go well. About 50% of the time I would wake up with it downloaded/uploaded correctly. The other 50% of the time when it errored out for one reason or another, I tried again the next night.

  14. I may regret this.
First you will need an external microphone or a recorder like a ZOOM.
Then you need to get Audacity to balance and edit the sound.
Next upload to something like SoundCloud. Select embed and copy the HTML code, you can have a still image as well.
Then go to Blogger, click on HTML and paste what Soundcloud gave you.
All the above is free barring a microphone or recorder.
There's a lot of learning here so practise your message first, something simple like "Go Truckers Go." or try something like birds singing, preferably not the Spice Girls.

  15. My guess is you have to make a video, post it on YouTube, and then just post the link on Blogger.

  17. I'm not sure whether the slow upload is the fault of Blogger or your Internet connection. If it's your connection you may just have to begin the upload and let it happen, however long it takes.

I've done audiovisual posts before using my iPhone to make a video. (You could also use your digital camera, as Mr. Pudding mentioned.) I then put the video on YouTube with an "unlisted" setting -- which means only people with the link can see it -- and I embed it on the blog. It sounds complicated but it's really not.

  18. It would be very nice hearing you talk. I have never tried downloading a file on blogger. It seemed that it used to be easier before they changed things but could be wrong on that. Good luck!
