The March storm or storms is quite well known here. Today we had a March storm but it wasn't too severe. By this time of year the air has warmed up and holds more moisture. When a cold system comes in ,we can get lots of precipitation...SNOW. We usually get most of our snow fall in March.
Today we had a spring storm. It probably started just before 6:00 AM. At 7:00 AM there wasn't very much snow on the ground but it was snowing heavily and very windy. By noon it had stopped snowing and by 5:00 PM the sun was shining.
So I hope my series of photos gives you a bit of an idea what a spring storm is like here.
The first four photos were taken shortly after 7:00 AM
This photo was taken about 7:00 PM
Gosh, the weather is confusing where you live! Kansas has boring weather patterns. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteWhat's really interesting is the chinooks that blow off the Rockies.
DeleteI don't mind snow when it just comes for the day; it's when it hangs around that I don't care for it.
ReplyDeleteWe have snow 4 or 5 months of the year!
DeleteIt seems strange to have snow at this time of year, but I guess it's not strange to you! I like your neat little neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteWe will also get snow in April. The April snow melts right away. Winter snow seems to stay forever.
DeleteWe had a day of rain. Thank heaven for small mercies.
ReplyDeleteSo better rain than snow!
DeleteWe have the same happening here. Snow melting then some reappearing as if winter wants to hold on for another few days!
ReplyDeleteWe still have winter snow. Spring snow melts in a hurry.
DeleteNow that's a snow storm I could live with! :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, but these storms are risky.
DeleteThat's a lovely little snow storm you had there.
ReplyDeleteIt was very windy for a few hours.
DeleteThe snow didn't last very long.
ReplyDeleteSpring now melts quickly. We still have winter snow.
DeleteWe had two days of rain! happy for sun today!
ReplyDeleteTwo day of rain is a lot. You need some dry weather.
DeleteLooks chilly though.
ReplyDeleteIt was a little above 0 C. Yes it was windy.
DeleteOh, no! I bet you are tired of that white stuff and ready for some green spring.
ReplyDeleteIf I'm tired of the white stuff, I'm living in the wrong place.
DeleteWhat a difference the sun makes! So pretty. I'm glad the snow won't stick around so long now.
ReplyDeleteThis new snow will melt in a day or two , but we still have lots of winter snow.
DeleteThat's usually what our winder snow is like.
ReplyDeleteYes, you only get the wet snow . Our winter snow is dry and powdery.
DeleteThese are beautiful pictures, thank you for sharing! I love the difference in light in your pictures. March is a crazy weather month for us too. We've had at least once a week snows since February but now we do get an occasional warmer day despite the once a week snows!
ReplyDeleteWe have a good forecast for the next week.
DeleteMy kind of weather! Terrific shots, Red.
ReplyDeleteI always know what comment I'll get from you when I post about snow.
ReplyDeleteI was pleased and relieved to learn that both you and Jean survived this March storm. You must have been frightened.
ReplyDeleteWhy would they be frightened? And were they expected not to survive?
DeleteWe get the March snows, too. And sometimes April snows. And sometimes even snow in May! But it never lasts long, that's the good thing about it. Good pictures there, to show the progression of the day.
ReplyDeleteMarch can be so unpredictable! But spring is here, so better days are up ahead.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is backward to our storms...LOL.
ReplyDeleteYes looks like a March snow for sure!
ReplyDeleteAhhh yes... I remember those in Illinois. At least you're getting some precipitation. We're in a drought situation here in Hawaii.
ReplyDeletespring snow and you get much of your snow in March ?
ReplyDeletenow that is new to me i thought December and November can be more snowy in your part of land .
nice pictures the sun shines after snow and everything glows wow !
