THE AGE OF CONFUSION

About once a week the micro manager visits with our daughter on messenger. And do they visit. From one to two hours of gossip. The usual time is 7:00 AM when suits them both.

Today the Micro manager was wondering if Janey was going to call so she was up about 6:30 AM to get ready on Facebook. 7:00 AM came and went and there was no call so I got up to check and see if the micro manager had things right.

I moved to where a call would come in and it said calling so I thought great. they'll have  visit after all.

Well out of the  gloom of an unlit room appeared a gray face! It was Willis, my friend from high School. Willis was confused. He wondered what the time was. Well, you know most of the world jumped one hour ahead this morning. However , where Willis lives the time doesn't change. Most things on the internet change times automatically. So Willis's alarm went off an hour early. I was wondering why I was talking to Willis instead of my daughter. I had not called anybody . Then I had to get my hearing aid so that I could hear Willis.

Willis was happy that I had called. I was wondering why Willis called me!

Well, we finally got ourselves sorted out  and quit laughing at our own jokes. We exchanged news and had a good chat.

Willis and I were in high school together and have kept in touch . We finished in June of 1957.

Well, here we are in gr. 10 . Willis is four from the left in the back row. I'm standing right behind the teacher.

This is when I'm 82 and  a half!

I wonder how many other people were a little confused this morning because of the time change?

  1. I guess you didn't intend to call Willis? What a nice surprise it must have been!
I find time changes easier than I used to, pretty much everything updates itself these days and there's little room for confusion.
(If only the car would update it's clock!)

  2. That's funny how you were expecting your daughter and instead got you friend. I have had trouble with Facebook Messenger before so I know things like that can happen. At least you had a nice talk with your friend. I love that last picture of you!

I changed all our clocks but my cat could care less about Daylight Savings Time and woke me up an hour earlier!

  3. Sorry your wife and daughter missed their call. I wasn't confused over the time change because I had an appointment I didn't want to miss. But I did have a very poor sleep. It always happens when the time changes.

    1. I have a poor sleep when I have to set an alarm. I never set an alarm on a daily basis.

  4. What a funny start to the day! It takes two good old friends to figure out what's happening sometimes.
I thought my fancy alarm clock changed on it's own. It doesn't. My son had to show me how to change the digital in my car. I thought it would do it on its own. I remember when there were no clocks in the car. And the rotary clock on the range was the first thing to stop working. I still have dial face watches. Linda in Kansas

  5. I understand those long newsy chats with a daughter. It’s the same for us with our daughter. How wonderful that you and Willis stayed in touch all these years.

  6. Trust you to be standing right behind the teacher! No wonder the other kids thought you were the teacher's pet! Great that you have kept in touch with Willis all this long time. The clocks don't change in England until the last Sunday in March.

  8. Well, I was not confused by the time change but I can get confused by technology. If I hit the wrong button, I may end up phoning someone I never meant to phone! Glad your call turned into a nice visit!

  9. Time change is so confusing. Our house heater has a timer in it, which we learned adjusts for time change except every year it makes a mistake. Instead of springing ahead one hour it springs two. So, Roger heard the heater go on and went out to the kitchen to start making tea, I looked at the clock and it was only 5:00 am. We usually get up at 6:00. The heater had jumped two hours instead of one and in the old world it was really 4:00 am. Confusing morning it was! I'm not a fan of time change at all. I like standard time.

  10. Funny! I guess you somehow called him by accident? It's funny how mature everyone looks in that photo -- so much more grown-up than 10th graders today!

  13. I read lots of posts o Facebook that talked about clocks that did not change, satellite clocks that moved 3 hours forward, and other stuff. I hate the DST and want it to stay now the way it is.

I remember tromping into the church just as they were doing to closing hymn. The five of us, 3 kids in tow, got up and dressed for nothing!

  21. My grandson calls from Maryland at around 10:45 so I was surprised when he called at 9:50. I totally forgot about the time change since Hawaii does not change to daylight savings. The US is moving toward getting rid of Daylight Savings. That was a surprise. I’ll believe it when I see it.

  22. You had a cute story to share about your friend and you and the chat you had. I find the time changes to be difficult for my body to adjust to.
