In regards to my last post on sunrise and sunset, Debbie asked, "What time does the sun set up there?
Well, you're going to get more than sunrise.
I live in Alberta , Canada. I'm in between the two largest cities - Calgary and Edmonton.
I can't give you yesterday's times . Today the sun rose at 8:14 AM and set at 4:29 PM. This gives us 8 hours and fifteen minutes of sunlight.
Now our forecast for next week is to be very cold. A couple of the days have highs of minus 19 C(0 F). It's also going to snow on three of those days.
Since I'm elderly I find these temperatures cold. The ordinary people may find it cold but carry on with their lives.
Our dawn is an hour earlier than yours, but the sunset is just a few minutes later.
ReplyDeleteOur sun rose at 7:18 and set at 4:49. We've got an hour and a half more daylight than you do.
ReplyDeleteGoing to turn colder here too. We have an 8 hour 56 minute day sunrise is 7:41 and sunset 4:37
ReplyDeleteDays are brief these days.
DeleteOK, I just checked our sunrise and sunset:
ReplyDeleteSunrise: 6:48.
Sunset: 17:48.
It's already getting lighted at 5:30 AM though.
I remember what it was like when we lived in Chicago in winter. It got dark really early in winter.
You don't get much change there where you are close to the equator.
DeleteThis comment is really for Debbie … If you are curious about sunrise/sunset times simply click over to timeanddate.com … on their home page you can search for the info on just about any place in the world.
ReplyDeleteYes, that is a good site with much more info.
DeleteSure, I can look it up, but I enjoy 'talking' to Red.
DeleteThe sunrise here is 7:17 am, but we don't really see it come up over the mountains until about 8:00. Then it sets at 4:50 pm. It's dark by 5:30. (NewRobin13)
ReplyDeleteYou still get quite a bit more daylight there. Yes, mountains are nice but they also give us shade when we don't want it.
DeleteLess than a month before the days start getting longer but ever so s l o w l y.
ReplyDeleteSlowly is the key to days getting longer.
DeleteI heard that we're getting some cold Canadian air blowing down in a few days. I'll try not to blame you!
ReplyDeleteSorry, but I hope all of it goes your way!
DeleteIt means I am far more older than you dear Red as minus 19 is scary for me omg
ReplyDeleteAnd plus 50 C would be scary for me!
DeleteI’m with you! Too cold for these old bones! Chills me to the core!
ReplyDeleteAs kids we played outside all the time.
DeleteVery cold -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteIt may be cold but it gets much colder.
DeleteI'll have to look up our current sunrise/sunset times. We are a bit farther south than you are but in the most northern corner of the USA. Our Pacific Ocean currents keep us much more temperate.
ReplyDeleteSeattle time: sunrise -7:32, sunset:-4:24, 8 hours and 51 minutes of sunlight
ReplyDeleteYou're very close to us.
DeleteSunrise here is 08:27 and sunset is 4:14 pm so we are pretty close to your times.
ReplyDeleteSurprised that your day is shorter than ours.
DeleteI would find it very cold!
ReplyDeleteOur sun goes down a few more minutes before five every day and then after 12/21 it goes down later and later every day. Mom used to advise us daily. Now she's gone, we find out for ourselves.
ReplyDeleteI never thought about you sunrise/sunset times. I knew about the Arctic, but I didn't think about it.
