I'M HAPPY YOU ASKED

In regards to my last post on sunrise and sunset, Debbie asked, "What time does the sun set up there?

Well, you're going to get more than sunrise.

I live in Alberta , Canada. I'm in between the two largest cities - Calgary and Edmonton.

I can't give you yesterday's times . Today the sun rose at 8:14 AM and set at 4:29 PM. This gives us 8 hours and fifteen minutes of sunlight.

Now our forecast for next week is to be very cold. A couple of the days have highs of minus 19 C(0 F). It's also going to snow on three of those days.

Since I'm elderly I find these temperatures cold. The ordinary people may find it cold but carry on with their lives.

  1. Our dawn is an hour earlier than yours, but the sunset is just a few minutes later.

  2. Our sun rose at 7:18 and set at 4:49. We've got an hour and a half more daylight than you do.

  4. OK, I just checked our sunrise and sunset:
    Sunrise: 6:48.
    Sunset: 17:48.
It's already getting lighted at 5:30 AM though.

I remember what it was like when we lived in Chicago in winter. It got dark really early in winter.

    1. You don't get much change there where you are close to the equator.

  6. The sunrise here is 7:17 am, but we don't really see it come up over the mountains until about 8:00. Then it sets at 4:50 pm. It's dark by 5:30. (NewRobin13)

    1. You still get quite a bit more daylight there. Yes, mountains are nice but they also give us shade when we don't want it.

  12. I'll have to look up our current sunrise/sunset times. We are a bit farther south than you are but in the most northern corner of the USA. Our Pacific Ocean currents keep us much more temperate.

  15. Our sun goes down a few more minutes before five every day and then after 12/21 it goes down later and later every day. Mom used to advise us daily. Now she's gone, we find out for ourselves.
